چکیده

The aim of this study was to investigate the role of perceived social support and sense of cohesion in predicting depression in athletes in Maragheh. The research design was descriptive and correlational. The statistical population of the study included all professional athletes aged 15 to 50 years in Maragheh who were engaged in sports in 1399. Of these, 259 people were randomly selected as the sample. Levinda Anxiety, Depression and Stress Questionnaire, Scherborn and Stewart Social Support Scale and Antonowski Cohesion Questionnaire were used to collect data. Pearson correlation and multivariate regression were used to analyze the research data. Data were analyzed using SPSS-21 software. Findings showed that there is a significant negative relationship between perceived social support, sense of cohesion and its components with depression at the level of 0.01. Also, 17% of the variance of athletes' depression was perceived by social support variables and its components and 21% of the variance was predicted by the sense of cohesion and its components.
