حوزههای تخصصی:
The main objective of human beings as absolute entities is related to our urge for survival, because in a material sense we are not self-supporting, but completely dependent on what nature offers us. In earlier times survival instincts meant that we lived as hunters, guided by our functional antennas (hunger, thirst, fatigue, sexual feelings, etc.). Today, this activity can be described as economically motivated, basically including everything that can be assumed to be serviceable, so it must therefore be construed very broadly – not merely providing in our primary needs, but everything else that is necessary for this. As our human society becomes more complex and more prosperous, secondary activities to attain the primary necessities of life become more comprehensive. In our present day and age they are even so multi-faceted that we can now expect to be occupied with such activity for perhaps the greatest part of life, possibly even without being truly aware of it on a daily basis.
The Effect of Covid-19 Outbreak on Registered Oil Companies at Tehran Stock Exchange(مقاله علمی وزارت علوم)
حوزههای تخصصی:
The goal of this paper is to study the effect of Covid-19 outbreak on oil markets volatility.Covid-19 as a pandemic has a significant negative effect on global economy. Alongside the global economy, stock markets responded to the outbreak immediately. The first case appeared in February 20 in Iran. The outbreak has different implication for Iranian economy. Using daily data on return of oil companies registered at Tehran Stock Exchange (TSE), change in new cases integrated into the E-GARCH model as a proxy for the virus outbreak form February 20, 2020 until December 12, 2020, it applies an E-GARCH model to derive volatilities in index. To test the effect of Covid-19 outbreak on the volatilities in oil companies’ index, change in daily new cases integrated into the E-GARCH model as a proxy for the virus outbreak. The results show that, despite of fresh money pumped into the market and increase in market transactions and volume of trade, during the first phase of outbreak, Covid-19 has negatively affected returns of oil companies’ prices.
Synchronous Web-based Learning during COVID -19 Pandemic: A Survey on Library and Information Science Students of Bangladesh(مقاله علمی وزارت علوم)
حوزههای تخصصی:
The coronavirus pandemic has compelled academic institutions across the globe to initiate online teaching, impacting thereby the teaching-learning process to undergo a structural change. Among various pedagogical techniques that have been adopted, organizing synchronous classes has been found to be the most beneficial. It simulates the classroom environment, facilitating thereby parallel knowledge dissemination to a broader audience. This study measures the efficacy of synchronous web-based learning during this ongoing pandemic, among postgraduate Library and Information Science (LIS) students of Bangladesh. Using an online questionnaire, a survey was conducted among the postgraduate students of the Department of Information Science Library Management (ISLM) of the University of Dhaka. The results revealed that limitation of internet data, unstable internet, along with power blackouts were some of the primary inhibitors blocking the participants to attend classes online. Finally, this study concludes that as most students do not seem to be ready yet to study in a synchronous delivery mode, it recommends educational institutions in Bangladesh to provide an alternative delivery method, in order to sustain academic excellence in these challenging times.

This study re-examines the healthcare and humanitarian aid contributed by the British government and the British NGOs to the Palestinians during the Arab-Israelis War of 1967 and the current Covid-19 pandemic age. The objective of the research is to compare the significant efforts initiated by the British government and their NGOs to Palestine in two different occasions. After the end of Six-Day War of 1967, many Palestinian displaced persons lived in a poor condition at refugee’s camps scattered in Syria and Jordan. As a result of the unhygienic and inadequacy of a basic living facilities such as a clean sanitation system, the refugees experienced various contagious and non-contagious diseases such as gastroenteritis, hepatitis A and diverse skin infections. During this difficult time, the British government, and NGOs tirelessly contributed in various means to assist the displaced individuals and refugees in handling health disaster. Subsequently, the same thing occurs when the World, including Palestine is haunted with the current invisible Covid-19 virus, which appears to be another health catastrophe to the Palestinians. Hence, this study is re-examining the role and contribution of the British government and their NGOs to assist the Palestine Authority to face the imperceptible enemy which caused a pernicious plague. Regardless of religious beliefs, the noble efforts of those parties are appearing to be a humanitarian bridge which connecting humankind across continents, generations, and political ideology.

Applied Research on English Language, V. ۱۲ , N. ۴ , ۲۰۲۳

حوزههای تخصصی:
In education, the terms “assessment” and “motivation” seem paradoxical. However, a closer examination of the two terms leads to the understanding that the two terms can conceptually be aligned. Assessment for Learning (AfL) and teachers’ Motivational Strategy (MotS) can be synergized using AfL pedagogical principles that purportedly foster students’ motivation. The dearth of studies juxtaposing both constructs prompted us to examine the AfL practices of seven higher-education teachers in Indonesia, with the aim of providing empirical data on the convergence between AfL and MotS. Set against the backdrop of a low-motivation context, namely the emergency remote learning and teaching English as a Foreign Language (EFL) writing, the teachers were interviewed regarding their AfL practices, and the data was examined using principally deductive qualitative analysis. The results showed that the greatest alignment occurred in the “maintain” stage of MotS, where teachers provided a supportive classroom environment where mistakes are a natural part of learning and involved students in self and peer assessment. On the other hand, the constrained context resulted in divergent conceptions in the teachers of what they perceived as motivating for the students. This implies the need for EFL writing teachers to integrate AfL and various stages of motivational strategies to lead to more engagement and help students improve their writing achievement.

Moral Challenges of Societies During Pandemics(مقاله علمی وزارت علوم)
Introduction: The difference between an epidemic and a pandemic is not the severity of the disease, but the degree of its spread. Pandemics, unlike epidemics, cut across international borders. In this article, the moral challenges of societies during the occurrence of pandemic diseases (such as Covid-19, Sars, etc.) have been investigated. Material and Methods: Conceptual analysis method is used in this article. Related keywords were used in the search of materials and 44 articles were collected from Sciencedirect, Pubmed, Proquest and Elsevier databases and their examples were used according to the purpose. Conclusion: In this study, ethical challenges are divided into three categories: challenges related to sharing facilities, challenges related to providing or not providing medical services, and the challenge of how to react when faced with a controversial and possibly unethical situation. Then these challenges were examined from the perspective of ethical theories. The result of the analysis indicated that the philosophies of utilitarianism, virtuism, and truth-orientedness are not suitable for reasoning, justifying, and acting in difficult situations during pandemics. The philosophy of Justicialism, deontologism, and truth-orientedness are better, and with the help of a combination of the three mentioned theories, a model can be presented for three types of difficult situations in pandemic diseases.
Violation of the Ethical Principle of Patient Autonomy in Pandemics(مقاله علمی وزارت علوم)
Introduction: Independence or autonomy is one of the fundamental rights of patients, which must be observed by health activists in all medical interventions and diagnostic and treatment measures. Considering the importance of patient autonomy in the field of health, the present study examines the violation of this ethical principle during pandemics. Material and Methods: The present study is a review study in which the researcher examined the articles related to the keywords of the present study that were published in Google Scholar, PubMed, Science Direct and Springer databases from 2015 to 2023. Conclusion: In the conditions of spread of the disease, the health system is forced to violate the principle of patients' autonomy in order to fulfill its moral and legal duty in protecting the health of the society. Although it seems that violating the principle of respecting the patient's right to autonomy in the conditions of spreading the disease is morally justified. However, completely ignoring this right and arbitrarily restricting it without citing sufficient evidence, in addition to violating the basic rights of the patient, has also damaged the public trust and social capital of the health system. And this institution will face problems in achieving its big goals and attracting people's participation.
