در این مقاله ابتدا واژهایی چون مهندسی، مهندس، فناوری و حرفه تعریف و سپس، مشخصات هر یک بررسی شده است. اسامی معروفت ترین مهندسان در ایران و جهان آورده و در انتها به نقش حیاتی مهندسان در پاسخگویی به چهارده چالش عمده که جهان درقرن بیست و یکم با آن رو به رو ست، پرداخته شده است.What is Engineering, Who is an Engineer
The article first explains the important terminologies related for engineering: Engineer, engineering, profession, technology and ultimately present the relationship of these items with engineering. In addition the names of some engineers from Iran and other countries who have profound contributions with engineering are presented. At the end the list of 14 important challenges which the engineers are faced in 21 century are explained.
