Traditional Iranian houses, especially Esfahan, have very special cultural patterns, such as privacy entrance but contemporary houses in Isfahan, because of changes in the methods of designing and building houses, importance of entrance reduced to such level that now in contemporary houses entrance is just a door. Entrance correlates indoor safe space of house and outdoors. It`s importance lays in controlling entry, exit, territory and hierarchy. Since house owners were satisfied with traditional form of entrance, it is a good idea to learn from them in designing new entrances. The purpose of this research is to find a way for designing appropriate entrances for Isfahan contemporary houses. Isfahan city is from margin of desert and the origin of traditional houses. Analysis showed that blockage of visual and phonic relation, creating a space between outdoor public space and indoor private space, creating access patterns to internal spaces and traits that separate in and out were the most significant properties of traditional entrances. All these traits are ignored in contemporary entrances. Suggestions made for design include creating public meeting space in yard and creating a separate entrance space for each house in apartments.

Ta'ziyeh, The Art of the Iranian Passion play(مقاله علمی وزارت علوم)
-The term “Ta’ziyeh” refers to an Iranian dramatic genre which might be compared to the Western Passion Play and is the only indigenous drama of the entire Islamic world. This ritual drama has both an Islamic and a Persian heritage, the central theme of which is the tragic and heroic martyrdom of Imam Husayn, the grandson of the Prophet Mohammed and the third Imam of Shi’ite in the desert of Karbala in 680 A.D. Shiites believe that Imam Husayn sacrificed his life to be their Intercessor on the Day of Judgment. The history of Ta’ziyeh did not begin with the events at Karbala rather it dates back to pre-Islamic culture as well as the dramatic expressions of both the Memorial of Zarer, a religious epic from the Sassanid era, (226-652 A.D.), and the Tragedy of Siyavush, a work from ancient Iran, which precedes the Ta’ziyeh play by 1,200 years. The tradition continued from an early processional form to the Magtal-Khani (a recital of martyrdom stories), until it took a dramatic shape. Further, both the playwrights and the structure of the Takiyeh performance building, its performance site, contributed to the evolution of Ta’ziyeh. In this paper, the emphasis is to demonstrate the character of Ta’ziyeh, its foundation and, the development of its various elements. It also attempts to reveal, from an objective stance, its value to a people who embrace it as a kind of ritual, both a holy and national art form. Ta’ziyeh is a kind of ritual drama which has fascinated some of the world’s most famous theatre historians, critics, and performers, who view in it some elements of the postmodern theatre.

The Historical Sociology of Recreating the Concept of "Iran" in the ‘History of Alam Arāy-e Abbāsi’(مقاله علمی وزارت علوم)
حوزه های تخصصی:
History of the nations and national identity has always been considered one of the major issues in the social sciences and political geography. The identity of each nation is primarily related to the circumstances under which that particular nation has emerged and evolved. Thus, every country is independent when it has primarily an independent national personality. The origin and evolution of the concept of Iran has gained a considerable attention in the context of national identity since the establishment of the Medes 705 BC Government in the Iranian Plateau. After the fall of the Sassanids 636 AD and the emergence of independent and semi-independent governments in Iran, this concept lost its particular geopolitical framework, but in the historical process, Iran's political identity was based on a geographical integration and at one point in history, some historians recreated this concept in their works and applied it as a sign of a new evolution in line with reviving the geographical, cultural, and political and social dimensions. With the formation of the Safavid government in Iran and its reliance on the revival of Iranian land based on the heritage of ancient borders, the Iranian concept has transcended the cultural and ethnic aspect as a socio-political and basic concept for the national identity. This research is based on the theory of return in historical sociology with the method of content analysis, has been an attempt to prove the role-playing factors in the development and consolidation of Iranian identity,

Islamic architecture has been a great influence on different parts of the world, even so there are some similar factors, but the aspect of culture will make the polarization between them. Upon the vast spread that Muslims had in the 7th century (A.D.) Islamic culture and belief moved in different continents from the Fareast parts of Asia to the west of the Mediterranean. At the beginning Islam had no specific architecture but with passing of time each and every culture started their own art and architecture and from that beginning Iran was a special primary of this field and of the many dynasties of this country Safavid was one of the highest valued among them all. One of the most important aspects of traditional architecture is there proportion value that holds a great part of the aesthetical valence. The aim of this paper is to know that if there is a common connection within various types of Safavid architecture as a group or individual system. The secondary goal of this study is to see if there is an aesthetic relation between Iranian proportion and European golden ratio. In this study we have surveyed various buildings, in one of the most influence architecture eras of Iranian Islamic architecture and at an end result believe that depending on their functionality the proportion values differ among them.

There were some Qurans related to Safavid era in Darussaade in Istanbul, which was an Ottoman royal headquarters, and were collected from mosques and tombs in museums and libraries from the beginning of the 19th century A.D. These artworks, which are remarkable examples in Islamic bibliopegy art because of their magnificent illuminations and precious covering, also show an especial and important era because of their scripts and transcribing. These works, regardless of their transcribing style, are important examples of artistic masterpieces because of their illuminations and coverings that show the perfection of Islamic bibliopegy art in the 16th century.
We know that Esfahan, Tabriz, Shiraz and Qazvin were prominent in Safavid bibliopegy. Among these cities, Shiraz was the most important one in the 16th century A.D. I want to introduce two Qurans which were brought to Istanbul as an order or a gift. These two holy Qurans from Safavid era have fine scripts, illuminations, covers and they are kept in Museum of Turkish and Islamic Arts in Istanbul. Ghataee and lac techniques have been performed proficiently on one of the covers. Mohamad al-Kateb and Ibn Qasem Daee Abdol Vahab al-Shirazi are the calligraphers. Both of the Qurans are transcribed in Yaghout al-Mostasami’s style which is still common in Iran. Ottoman History recorded in these Qurans are interesting, too. There is a note in one of the Qurans which is an endowment by Mehr Mah Soltan, Soltan Suleyman Qanouni’s daughter, to be kept and read in her mother’s tomb, Khoram Soltan. Another Quran was also dedicated to be kept in Aziz Mahmoud Khodaee’s mosque in Uskudar (Istanbul), according to its note, by a person named Fazlolah Ibn Mahmoud. There are horoscopes and prayers for finishing the Quran at the end of both Qurans which were common inn Safavid era.

Nezamadin Shah Mahmoud who is famous as “Zarin Qalam” in art world, was born around 1479-1493 A.D. in Neyshabour. His first calligraphy teacher was his uncle, Abdi Neyshabouri. He continued his learning as Soltan Ali Mashhadi’s student and improved his calligraphy. He appeared his style after studying masters’ scripts like Mir Ali Heravi and Mohamad Khandan. Shah Ismaeil Safavi, who supports artists, supported Shah Mahmoud and ordered him to transcribe a Shahnameh for himself. Shah Mahmoud has lots of artworks and a Quran kept in Istanbul Topkapi palace museum’s library (Hırka-i Saâdet , No. 25) transcribed by Nasta’liq script is one of his most beautiful art. The size of this Nasta’liq Quran is 25.5x37 cm and has 361 pages. It is illuminated by Hasan al-Baghdadi’s workshop. This Quran was given to Sultan Morad the third by Shah Mohamad Bahador Khan ( Shah Mohamad Khoda Bandeh Safavi) as a gift.
It can be said that this Quran, which is precious because of its bibliopegy like cover, illumination and binding, affected Ottoman art and gave it a direction. Shah Mahmoud and his students played big roles in transferring Nasta’liq script from Iran, which is Nasta’liq’s birthplace, to Ottoman. This Quran, which has been transcribed elegantly from beginning to the end, is one of the Islamic masterpieces because of its illuminations, headlines, finishing verses and signs of each part.
The purpose of this article is to introduce the Quran by Shah Mahmoud Neyshabori I Nasta’liq script and study the Iranian and Ottoman’s differences.
A Survey of the Concepts of Court Documents of Safavid in Iran and Mughals in India(مقاله علمی وزارت علوم)
The administrative system during Iran's Safavid and India's Mughal empires had a complex structure. During that era, writing, recording, and dispatching of royal decrees as well as administrative, judicial, revenue figures, and rulings were carried out by three administrative divisions dealing with composition, execution, and judiciary. Such documents are exiting in two primary and secondary forms and their compositions are varied based on their themes. The components of documents are also distinguished in terms of their header, seal, and monogram. To prevent any type of forgery, they went through lengthy and complicated stages. These documents show the evolution of the bureaucratic system in both dynasties and were issued for purposes such as appointments, grants, exemptions, contracts, treaties, and so on. The research method applied in the present research is based sources extracted from library and archival materials and then the court documents of both Safavid and Mughals were compared and analyzed through the descriptive-analytical method. Research findings show that different administrative units were under the supervision of the minister (vazir), the second powerful figure after the King, who in fact led state, financial and judicial affairs. Although both dynasties had common roots, they created one of the most effective executive systems of their time by upgrading those prevalent in previous empires.

The Iran-Ottoman Conflicts Over the Caucasus in the Era of Safavid Interregnum (1576- 1587)
حوزه های تخصصی:
In the sixteenth century, the strategic region of the Caucasus had a set of political, economic, transportation, and religious benefits for both the Safavid and Ottoman governments that led the two powers to compete for profound influence and attention in the region. During this period, when some weak and unstable kings such as Ismail II and Muhammad Khudābanda came to power, lack of strength and better performance caused the Ottoman government to grasp the most of the opportunity to extend their influence over the Caucasus. This study aims at investigating the geographical location of the Caucasus considering the Safavid diplomatic policies and the challenges between the Safavids and the Ottoman Empire through analyzing historical data and library studies. Descriptive data analysis has been considered as the method utilized for this research. The research findings indicate that the ineffectiveness of Safavid foreign policy at this time and the consequence of this policy would have an inevitably negative impact on maintaining and controlling the Caucasus. As a result, this policy would provoke the Ottoman invasions, leading to the occupation of some parts of the Caucasus.

The Turban helmet is a type of war helmet during the 14th to 16th centuries AD in Middle East countries. This type of helmet has become known by Western scholars by this name because of the special decorations that made it look like a turban as well as the visibility of the helmet from under the warriors’ turban. Based on the numerous documents remaining, one can say that the use of Turban helmets was popular in Middle East territories’ armies during the Middle Ages. Despite being widely used and in style for more than two centuries and among many west Asian countries, among all the remaining samples of this type of middle eastern helmet, only two distinct styles, the Turkoman and the Ottoman styles, have been examined and introduced. This can be due to a large number of remaining samples of these two being kept for years in the armouries of the Ottoman Empire. Apart from these two known styles, few studies have been done so far on investigating other possible types of turban helmets. The purpose of this research is to study the turban helmets that were popular among the armies of the Il-khanid, Jalayirid, Muzaffarid, Timurid, Turkoman, and Safavid that ruled respectively in the cultural Iran region, by relying on the remaining documents from the 14th to the 16th centuries, such as the collection of helmets and illustrated manuscripts. The results of this research reveal that the changes that occurred in the making of turban helmets during the 14th to the 16th centuries have led to the representation of four different types of helmets: Mongolian style, Timurid style, Turkoman style, and Qizilbash style.

حوزه های تخصصی:
The theory or school of social deterrence, unlike the school of heroism, emphasizes the influence of social conditions and measures governing the economy and social product methods in the emergence and development of historical events. In its extreme form, this doctrine leads to ignoring the personalities and leaders’ contributions to the events. Historians of the Safavid reign influenced by the attitude of heroism in describing Shāh Ismā'il 's character and narrating the events in his time, have highlighted his role as a supernatural savior. This attitude has influenced contemporary researchers, among which some have analyzed the events of his period focusing on his leadership. Despite this attitude, the rise of Shāh Ismā'il can be explained based on the social theory, where Shāh Ismā'il's character is subject to social conditions and the role of tribal support forces that is his leadership is of less concern. The objective here is to assess the emergence of Shāh Ismā'il the I based on social deterrence theory, in a descriptive-analytical manner. The findings indicate that the pieces of evidence revealed in historical writings, where the conditions, contexts, and previous factors in the rise of Shāh Ismā'il under his personality and leadership are of concern. Contemporary researchers have assessed this issue in its social and economic sense, or resorting to the theory of social deterrence, thus, discounting his character as a leader.
