This research was carried out in order to predict the social anxiety based on the level of stress and timidity in students of Islamic Azad University of Boroujerd. The present research was fundamental in terms of purpose, and it was descriptive-correlation with the type of prediction in terms of method. The statistical sample of this research was composed of two-hundred undergraduate and master students in Azad Islamic University of Boroujerd, and all of them participated in this study. Data were collected by using social anxiety (SPIN_2000), Stofford's timidity and stress (DASS_21) questionnaires. The Pearson Correlation Coefficient and Multivariate Regression Analysis were applied to analyze the data by step by step method. Data Analysis showed that social anxiety is predictable based on stress and timidity, and these two variables could predict twenty-six percent of variant variance of social anxiety. Research findings indicated the significance of stress and timidity in social anxiety. Most of the university students encounter different stressors and factors that cause their anxiety in social occasions to be appeared. Also, these findings can raise the importance and role of timidity in outbreak of social anxiety disorder to a great extent, however it has not still considered as a separate disorder.

Purpose: Extreme dependence on virtual social networks has devastating consequences such as academic underachievement, sleep disorder, and social isolation, clearly highlighting the need for research in this area. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of rumination, social support, loneliness and social anxiety on dependence on virtual social networks with an emphasis on the mediating role of self-regulation. Methodology: The statistical population included all female upper secondary school students in Tehran who studied in the academic year of 2017-18. Six hundred (600) students were selected by multistage random cluster sampling. Research data was analyzed using structural equation modeling. Findings: The results indicated that the model had a good fit. Also the direct and indirect effects of social anxiety and social support, as well as the direct impact of loneliness on the dependence on virtual social networks, are rejected at the alpha level of 0/05 and are not significant. Discussion: Rumination and self-regulation variables were significant in direct effect. Rumination and loneliness variables were also significantly correlated with self-regulation mediation in indirect effect.

Pearson correlation analysis and multivariate regression were used to analyze the data. The results showed that there was a significant negative relationship between social anxiety (R = -0.563) and academic self-efficacy (P <0.001). Also, the results of regression analysis showed that the predictor (independent) variable of social anxiety has the ability to predict (criterion variable) students' academic self-efficacy. In summary, it can be inferred from the result of this research that social anxiety has a significant relationship with academic self-efficacy.

Methods: The study population included the students of the University of Tehran and the Islamic Azad University of South Tehran in 2019-20. A total of 306 were selected by convenience sampling method, who responded to the questionnaires. The research tools were the Social Phobia Inventory (Connor et al., 2000), the Parental Authority Questionnaire (PAQ) (Buri, 1991), and the questionnaire of negative consequences of social events (Wilson and Rapi, 2005). Pearson's correlation test indicated a significant negative relationship between authoritative parenting and social anxiety and a significant positive relationship between permissive and authoritarian parenting styles, as well as negative self-evaluation and social anxiety. Results: The results of the path analysis test revealed that negative self-evaluation has a significant indirect effect (mediating role) on the relationship between parenting styles and social anxiety. Conclusion: These results can be used to explain the psychopathology of social anxiety symptoms. In addition, self-evaluation and empowering parents to apply appropriate parenting styles can reduce disorders such as social anxiety.

Based on research evidence, parenting styles and cognitive factors in mothers may be effective in shaping and exacerbating children's social anxiety. The aim of the present study is to determine the social anxiety of schoolgirls based on parenting styles and cognitive flexibility of their mothers. For this descriptive study, a correlational design is used. The participants of the study include all students in sixth grade elementary school and their mothers in the city of Khomem in the academic year of 2019-2020. The number of participants is 200 sixth grade elementary school students selected based on convenience sampling. Liebowitz Children and Adolescents Social Anxiety Scale (LSAS-CA), Baumrind Parenting Styles Scale and Cognitive Flexibility Scale (CFS) are employed to collect data. The statistical data are analyzed based on Pearson correlation coefficient and multiple regression analysis. The results of multiple regression analysis reveal that parenting styles and cognitive flexibility predict 64.1% of the variance of students' social anxiety. These findings suggest that parenting styles and cognitive flexibility play a crucial role in the pathology and prevention of students' social anxiety.

The current study used cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) in the form of rational emotive behavior therapy (REBT) intervention on irrational beliefs and anxiety of adolescent girls with social anxiety. A quasi-experimental design was utilized in this study, which involved a control group, a pre-test, and a post-test of samples taken from clinics in Tehran, of which 28 adolescent girls with social anxiety were selected through a purposive sampling method from November to January 2020. There were 14 participants in each of the experimental and control groups. Afterward, they were randomly assigned to experimental and control groups. The Hamilton Anxiety Rating Scale (HARS) and The Attitudes and Belief Scale 2 (ABS-2) were applied as pre-intervention phases. The experimental group (n=14) was treated with rational-emotive behavior therapy, for ten weekly 90 minutes sessions, while the control group (n=14) did not receive any treatment. As part of descriptive statistics, we used indices such as means and standard deviations that assessed central and dispersion. The test for inferential statistics was the repeated measure ANCOVA. Statistical analysis was performed using SPSS software (version 25). The significance level of the analysis was 0.05. Considering the results, there was a significant difference between the pretest and post-test results for irrational belief (89.44±34.82) and anxiety (81.67±27.09)indicating that the experimental group’s post-test scores were higher relative to their pre-test scores. Moreover, the experimental group’s post-test scores of anxiety decreased from the pre-test (81.67±27.09) to the post-test (52.48±15.54).
