The Role of Psychological Needs and Dark Triad Traits of Personality in Selfie-taking Behavior
حوزه های تخصصی:
The spread of the selfie phenomenon and sending it to virtual social networks can be due to various causes and contexts, including psychological and personality factors. There is limited and conflicting research evidence in this area that requires further research. Therefore, this study aims to investigate the role of psychological needs and dark triad traits of personality in selfie-taking behavior. The present study is a causal-comparative study. A total of 300 students (in the age range of 18 to 30 years) are selected by cluster sampling from the faculties of Guilan University. They responded to a researcher-made selfie checklist, the General Health Questionnaire, the Maslow's Needs Questionnaire, and the dark triad traits Scale. Finally, data from 202 participants (103 female students) are analyzed. The multivariate analysis of variance reveals that the two groups of selfie-taker and non-selfie-taker are significantly different in psychological needs, including safety, belonging, and esteem and personality traits, including narcissism and Machiavellianism. It seems that the needs of unsatisfied safety, belonging, and esteem and the traits of narcissism and Machiavellianism can justify the phenomenon of taking selfies and sending them on virtual social networks
The Mediating Role of Emotion Regulation within the Relationship between Neuroticism and Participation Motivation
حوزه های تخصصی:
In this research, we investigated the mediating role of emotion regulation within the relationship between neuroticism and participation motivation. In this cross-sectional study, a total of 261 employees (98 males agerange = 18-60 years) belonging to Iran Oil Company participated and completed questionnaires of big five factors of personality (Costa and McGree, 1989), cognitive emotion regulation (Garnowski and Craig, 2006) and participation motivation (Gill et al., 1983). Data were analyzed by structural equation modeling. The results indicate that neuroticism has indirect effects on participation motivation through adaptive emotion regulation and maladaptive emotion regulation strategies. The results suggest that emotion regulation strategies may be a significant mediator in the neuroticism- participation motivation link. One’s difficulty in regulating emotions might be an underlying mechanism through which high neuroticism decreases the participation motivation and health behavior. The study implies that the assessment of emotion regulation strategies should be included in interventional programs aimed at achieving employees’ sport participation.

The current study is interdisciplinary research having a psychological look at the quality of translated texts. This work was an endeavor to probe the effect of the translators' personality- extrovert and introvert- on the translation quality of political and journalistic texts. It also explored the effect of the graduation level on the translation quality. To achieve the ends, the data was obtained from 50 graduate and 50 undergraduate students majoring in English translation at different Iranian universities. The translated texts were assessed by three ratters using Farahzad’s model (1992) of translation quality assessment. The results of independent samples t-test revealed that the personality characteristics of the participants did not have significant effect on the translation quality. Moreover, the results of ANOVA indicated that the extrovert students had a better performance than the introverts in the accuracy scale, but the reverse pattern emerged in the case of style scale where the introverts outperformed the extroverts. The research has attempted to consider the interrelationship between psychology and translation field and can be beneficial for importing concepts and theories from the field of psychology. Regarding the results, "introversion" and "extroversion" can be considered as two sources of variation in translation process and outcome.

حوزه های تخصصی:
In the Islamic school, there are examples and models that all their personal, social and political status is beyond time, place, race and culture. In this school, after the Prophet (PBUH) and the infallible Imams (PBUT), their prominent companions are among the best examples and role models. One of these companions is Miqdad bin Amr. He is one of the first Muslims who, in addition to his high status among the Sunnis, is also considered to be of high status among the Shiites. Despite the wide range of sources related to the personality of Miqdad bin Amr, the materials available about him are brief, scattered or limited to a specific time period, and some aspects of his personality have not been analyzed. Therefore, this article provides a linguistic analysis of his character as a role model by collecting relevant historical, and narrative sources and paying special attention to Miqdad’s personality traits and characteristics. This article uses a descriptive method based on qualitative and quantitative linguistic content analysis. The analysis of Miqdad’s character using the pattern of character classification in Islamic sources shows that Miqdad’s personality is described as chaste, calm, self-confident and clever in narrative, historical and Qur’ānic sources.
The Role of Situational Interest and Personality Traits in Language Learners’ Transformative Engagement in Academic Reading(مقاله علمی وزارت علوم)
حوزه های تخصصی:
The current study primarily explored the link between EAP students’ L2 situational interest (SI) and academic reading transformative engagement (TE). Moreover, it explored SI and its subcomponents, triggered SI and maintained SI as predictors of TE. We also sought the role of different disciplines as moderators of the relationship between SI and TE. Finally, we investigated the big five personality traits as predictors of TE. The participants of this study were 160 undergraduate EAP students recruited through quota sampling. A quantitative research method with a correlational design was employed to conduct the study. Two questionnaires were adopted to measure academic reading TE and personality traits, and a questionnaire was adapted from math SI to English learning SI to assess the students’ L2 SI. The results revealed a significant and positive relationship between students’ L2 SI and their academic reading TE. SI significantly predicted TE, and between its subcomponents, only maintained SI strongly and significantly predicted TE. Neither the difference between the disciplinary groups in terms of students’ TE nor the interaction of the comparative disciplinary groups by SI was significant. The result indicated the agreeableness trait as the sole predictor of TE. Our findings have fruitful pedagogical implications discussed in the conclusion section.

The data were analyzed using hierarchical regression analysis (utilizing Baron and Keaney's method for assessing moderating effect).
Results: The results indicated that cognitive load causes a decrease in reaction to other's trust (R=0.683) and that each personality trait could moderate the effect of cognitive load on reaction to other’s trust.
Conclusion: Considering the ever-increasing cognitive load caused by the explosion of information in the modern age, it is necessary to identify and strengthen the personality traits underlying trusting interpersonal relationships
E-Sports Nexus: Gender Dynamics in Iranian Players' Personality Traits and Motivations(مقاله علمی وزارت علوم)
حوزه های تخصصی:
The study aimed to examine the gender-adjusted impact of personality factors on the motivations of e-sports participants. Descriptive research was conducted using structural equation modeling. The sample consisted of 763 individuals (599 men and 164 women) selected through simple random sampling, with statistical power set at 80% and a significance level of 0.01. The research variables, including participation structure and personality traits, were measured using the NEO Five-Factor Inventory (NEO-FFI) short-form questionnaire (Gassling et al., 2003) and the Motivational Participation Questionnaire` of Cianfrone et al. (2011). The findings supported all research hypotheses regarding the personality traits and motivations of e-sports players, even after adjusting for gender. The results indicated that brunerism, consensus, duty, psychology, and acceptance of experience were significant motivators for e-sports players, and the gender-adjusted analysis confirmed the research hypotheses in both male and female groups. Therefore, considering the personalities of e-sports players in sports marketing can enhance their engagement, as their motivations to participate are influenced by their traits.
