The Association of Family Functioning with Job Satisfaction and Job Security in Female Teachers(مقاله علمی وزارت علوم)
حوزههای تخصصی:
Objective: The purpose of the study was to ascertain the association of family functioning with job satisfaction and job security in female teachers of secondary schools in Isfahan City.
Methods: The sample consisted of 103 female teachers of secondary schools in Isfahan City, selected through convenience sampling. To collect the data, the Family Assessment Instrument Questionnaire (FAD) by Epstein et al. (1983), the Minnesota Job Satisfaction Questionnaire (MSQ) by Weiss et al. (1967), and the Job Security Questionnaire (JSQ) by Nisi et al. (2008), were used to collect the data. Pearson correlation coefficient and Structural Equation Modeling using SPSS – IBM 22 and Smart PLS 3 were run to analyze the data.
Results: Job satisfaction was positively associated with family functioning and its subscales. Job security was significantly positively associated with general family functioning and its subscales. Eventually, the results of structural equation modeling indicated that general family functioning was positively associated with job security (p<.05), but it did not have any significant association with job satisfaction.
Conclusion: It is concluded that family functioning has a unique effect on the job security of female teachers, but it does not have a significant effect on satisfaction.
The effectiveness of psycho-educational family-oriented interventions based on the integration of systemic approaches on the dimensions of family functioning(مقاله علمی وزارت علوم)
حوزههای تخصصی:
Objective: The current study investigated the impact of family-oriented psycho-educational interventions based on integrating systemic approaches on the dimensions of family functioning.
Methods: The research design is a pre-test and post-test experiment using two experimental and control groups. The statistical population included all the families referred to family and marriage counseling centers in Tabriz City under the supervision of the General Department of Sports and Youth of East Azerbaijan Province. In response to advertisements published in these centers, the families volunteered to participate in a psycho-educational course to enhance their family functioning. The volunteers were examined using the family assessment device (FAD), and 20 couples whose scores were average to low were selected as sample members and randomly replaced in the experimental (10 couples) and control (10 couples) groups. The experimental intervention was implemented in 10 sessions, each lasting 120 minutes on the experimental group, and the control group did not receive any intervention. At the end of the intervention, the members of both groups were re-evaluated with the family assessment device. The data was analyzed using univariate covariance analysis.
Results: The results indicated a significant difference in family performance between the groups, showing that the intervention has successfully improved the performance of the families.
Conclusion: The use of systemic family therapy, especially in an integrated form, is effective in improving various family-related components.

This study aimed to examine the relationship between perceived family functioning, distress tolerance, and academic self-discipline, with the mediating role of mental vitality. The research method was correlational using structural equation modeling. The statistical population included all students at Imam Khomeini International University during the 2023-2024 academic year. A total of 260 students were selected as the study sample using cluster random sampling. Research instruments included the Family Functioning Questionnaire (Epstein et al., 1980), Academic Self-discipline Questionnaire (Afrooz, 2007), Distress Tolerance Scale (Simons & Gaher, 2005), and Mental Vitality Scale (Ryan & Frederick, 1997). Data were analyzed using structural equation modeling in AMOS 24 software. The findings indicated that the conceptual model had good fit indices. Examination of direct pathways showed that family functioning and distress tolerance were significantly related to academic self-discipline. Furthermore, analysis of indirect pathways revealed that mental vitality mediates the relationship between academic self-discipline and both family functioning and distress tolerance. The results suggest that students' academic self-discipline can be enhanced by improving their perceptions of family functioning, increasing their distress tolerance, and fostering their mental vitality.
Co-Parenting Quality and Parenting Stress as Predictors of Child Behavioral Adjustment(مقاله علمی وزارت علوم)
حوزههای تخصصی:
Objective: This study aimed to investigate the predictive roles of co-parenting quality and parenting stress in relation to child behavioral adjustment among parents in Morocco. Methods: A correlational descriptive design was employed involving a sample of 396 parents selected based on Krejcie and Morgan’s sampling table. Participants completed three standardized instruments: the Child Behavior Checklist (CBCL) to assess child behavioral problems, the Parenting Stress Index–Short Form (PSI-SF) to measure perceived parenting stress, and the Co-parenting Relationship Scale (CRS) to evaluate co-parenting quality. Data were analyzed using SPSS version 27. Pearson correlation coefficients were computed to examine the bivariate associations between the dependent variable and each independent variable. Multiple linear regression was then conducted to evaluate the joint predictive power of parenting stress and co-parenting quality on child behavioral adjustment, with all assumptions for regression analysis thoroughly checked and confirmed. Findings: Results showed a significant positive correlation between parenting stress and child behavioral problems (r = .56, p < .01), and a significant negative correlation between co-parenting quality and child behavioral problems (r = –.42, p < .01). Multiple regression analysis revealed that parenting stress (β = .48, t = 8.60, p < .01) and co-parenting quality (β = –.31, t = –6.75, p < .01) were both significant predictors of child behavioral adjustment. The overall model was significant (F(2, 393) = 129.72, p < .01), explaining 40% of the variance in child behavioral outcomes (R² = .40, Adjusted R² = .39). Conclusion: The findings highlight the critical roles of both relational and psychological parenting factors in child development. Interventions aiming to reduce parenting stress and enhance co-parenting quality may be effective in improving behavioral outcomes in children, especially in non-Western cultural contexts like Morocco.
Humor in Families and Stress Reduction: The Mediating Role of Positive Affect(مقاله علمی وزارت علوم)
حوزههای تخصصی:
Objective: This study aimed to investigate the relationship between humor and stress in families, with positive affect as a mediating variable. Methods and Materials: The study employed a descriptive correlational design with 409 participants selected from families in South Africa, based on the Morgan and Krejcie sample size table. Data were collected through standardized questionnaires measuring humor, stress, and positive affect. Pearson correlation analysis was conducted using SPSS-27 to explore bivariate associations among variables. Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) was performed in AMOS-21 to test the hypothesized mediation model. Model fit was evaluated using multiple indices, including χ², df, χ²/df, GFI, AGFI, CFI, TLI, and RMSEA. Findings: The results revealed significant correlations between the study variables. Humor was positively correlated with positive affect (r = 0.53, p < .001) and negatively correlated with stress (r = −0.41, p = .001). Stress showed a significant negative correlation with positive affect (r = −0.47, p < .001). The structural model demonstrated acceptable fit (χ²(61) = 124.36, χ²/df = 2.04, GFI = 0.93, AGFI = 0.90, CFI = 0.96, TLI = 0.95, RMSEA = 0.049). Path analysis confirmed that humor had a direct positive effect on positive affect (β = 0.39, p < .001) and a negative effect on stress (β = −0.34, p = .001). Stress negatively influenced positive affect (β = −0.28, p < .001). Positive affect mediated the relationship between humor and stress, with a significant indirect effect (β = 0.09, p = .002). Conclusion: The findings highlight the protective role of humor in family contexts, showing that it reduces stress both directly and through the mediating role of positive affect. Integrating humor into family-based interventions may enhance resilience and emotional well-being.
