چکیده
سرگذشت خدمات مسلمانان به جغرافیا، بخشی از آن تجدید حیات فکری است که طلوع تمدن اسلامی را مشخص می کند. رشد وگسترش این تمدن با نمایان شدن روح تازه علمی که به نحوی چشمگیر خِرد را بر قدرت چیره کرد پیوند نزدیک داشت. بطوریکه تا قرن نهم هجری قمری(قرن پانزدهم میلادی)، علم جغرافیا و جغرافیدانان در جهان اسلام بر تمامی دنیا تأثیرگذار بود. در شرایط کنونی جهان اسلام، و با هدف تهیه داده های کاربردی جغرافیا در عرصه کشورهای اسلامی ( در سطوح منطقه ای ، ملی و ناحیه ای)، ترسیم آینده توسعه یافتگی جهان اسلام و تبیین و ارائه راهکارها و راهبردهای علمی توسعه، تجدید جایگاه و نقش جغرافیا و جغرافیدانان مسلمان متناسب با شرایط جدید، تلاش برای تولید علم در مقیاس جهانی و توسعه فناوری اطلاعات جغرافیایی، ضرورت ایجاد اتحادیه جغرافیایی جهان اسلام ( I.W.G.U) پیشنهاد می شود. این اتحادیه می تواند، موجب شود تا انجمن های جغرافیایی، موسسات جغرافیایی و دانشگاه ها در کشورهای اسلامی با برنامه ریزی مناسب و بهینه و همگام با تحولات جهانی، در جهت توسعه علم جغرافیا با تاکید بر جنبه های کاربردی آن و همگرایی درون تمدنی در قالب،امت اسلامی به توسعه جهان اسلام بپردازند.REESTABLISHING THE MOSLEM GEOGRAPHERS POSITION THROUGH FOUNDING ISLAMIC WORLD GEOGRAPHICAL UNION (I.W.G.U)
The history of Moslems’ contribution to the science of geography is part of the intellectual renaissance which represents the advent of the Islamic Civilization. The rising and development of this civilization was in close conjunction with the emergence of a new scientific vitality which made the intellectuality conspicuously superior to power so that the science of geography and geographers of the Islamic world became influential in all over the world up to 15 th century A.D.
In view of the status of the Islamic world today and having the goal of providing applied geographical data, on regional and national grounds in mind, the following endeavors deem necessary: envisaging the developed Islamic world and explicating scientific development approaches and strategies; reestablishing the Moslem geographers’ position in congruent with the new era conditions; originating knowledge at global level, developing geographical information technology; and meeting the demanding situation of founding Islamic World Geographical Union (I.W.G.U).The establishment of the union will set the ground for the geographical associations , organizations and universities of the Islamic world to join their forces to develop the science of geography, through optimal and appropriate planning in intra-civilization uniformity to the world’s changing circumstances while focusing on its applied aspects within a framework of Moslem Community to ultimately develop the Islamic world .
