The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of meta-cognitive education on teaching-learning strategies of gifted high school students in Ardabil city. This quasi-experimental study was conducted considering two groups: one control group and one experimental group, including a pretest and a posttest design. The sample of the study consisted of 40 students of Ardabil city in 2017. The 40 students were selected from the community using random sampling method and were randomly divided into two groups: one experimental group and one control group (20 people in each). Pre-test and post-test were performed by Weinstein teaching-learning strategies, for both groups. The experimental group was trained by the meta-cognitive training program and the control group did not receive any training. Pre-test and post-test results were analyzed using inferential statistics and Multivariate Analysis of Covariance (MANCOVA). Findings showed that meta-cognitive training enhances teaching and learning qualities, also the effectiveness of meta-cognitive training on most components of teaching-learning strategies including test and information processing strategies, attitude, motivation, time management, self-testing, study guidance and effective focus was crystal clear. Although the status of these components improved in the experimental group, but was meaningless on the anxiety components and the choice of the main idea.

Purpose: The project of identifying and leading gifted students (Shahab) was implemented between 2014 and 2015 Education Year by the National Elites Foundation in cooperation with Education Ministry in some regions of all provinces of Iran. Methodology: The project’s main goal was to identify, distinguish and guide the gifted students in elementary and junior education and paving the way to support them in higher education. The project will include all regions in all provinces in the coming years. In our research, teachers of fourth grade elementary schools attempted to evaluate and qualify students by using a pre-defined check list. It tried to understand the challenges and impediments of implementing Shahab project in Shahryar, a suburb of Tehran. Using descriptive and survey methods, it investigated the viewpoints of more than 175 teachers (85 males and 90 female) in fourth grade elementary schools. The interviews were elected randomly and the questionnaire included 40 closed questions in 8 fields and recognized the main obstacles of implementing Shahab project. Taking into consideration descriptive statistical indices, the author has used the Chi-square test one-variable and two variables tests in analyzing gathered information. Findings: The findings demonstrated that the male and female teachers have different ideas regarding challenges and obstacles of the Shahab project. Males believed that the main challenges are check list and method of identifying overqualified students on the one hand and the attitudes of parents on the other. This is while the females expressed that education- related issues and execution factors are the main problems. Conclusion: Putting aside the gender factor, it is argued that teachers see the check list and method of identifying gifted students as the main challenges in implementing Shahab project in Shahryar city.

Purpose: The purpose of the present study was to determine the structural relationships between mode metacognition and cyberspace with self-efficacy mediation in gifted students in Ghaemshahr, Babol, and Sari. There is a structure. Methodology: The method was correlation using structural equation modeling. The statistical population of the study consisted of all 1000 gifted female high school students in three grades (first, second and third) of Ghaemshahr, Babol and Sari cities. For each observed variable (18 variables observed in the model), and considering the possibility of incomplete questionnaires, 350 people were selected as the sample size by census method. جعفری & Kalantari (2016) cyberspace questionnaire, Morris (2001) self-efficacy questionnaire and Onil & Abedi (1996) mode metacognition questionnaire were used to collect data. Data were analyzed using SPSS 18 and AMOS 23 software. Findings: The results show that mode metacognition has a direct effect on the tendency of cyberspace in gifted students of Ghaemshahr, Babol and Sari. Conclusions: Therefore, those who have learned poor cognitive adjustment strategies may be more susceptible to using high-risk behaviors as a means of alleviating negative cognition than others.

The aim of this study was to compare the effectiveness of metacognition and problem solving training on teaching-learning strategies awareness of gifted high school male students of 10th grade in Ardabil. This research is a quasi-experimental research, with a pre-test/ post-test design. 127 gifted high school male students of Ardabil were participated in the study as the statistical population in 2017-18 academic year. Sixty of these students were selected through simple random sampling. Before starting the training programs, three groups were tested by the Weinstein Teaching-Learning Strategies Questionnaire first developed by Weinstein and Schultz (1987). Metacognitive training program was taught for the first experimental group, and problem solving skills program was taught for the second experimental group; each training program consisted of eight two-hour sessions and the control group did not receive any kind of training. Pre-test and post-test results were analyzed using MANOVA. The results showed that both metacognitive and problem solving training enhance teaching and learning skills and that metacognitive training is more effective in terms of test strategies, attitudes, focus, and time management. Also, similar effects were achieved in terms of information processing and selection of the main idea, anxiety, motivation, self-examination, study guide in the two groups. In conclusion, metacognitive training was proven to be more effective than problem solving training.

Purpose: The present research was done to determine the effectiveness of training process mental stimulation on academic procrastination and academic stress of gifted students. Methodology: The present quasi-experimental study was done with a pretest posttest design and follow-up along with a control group. The research population consisted of high school gifted students in academic year 2019-2020. The research sample included 30 students, who were chosen through multistage cluster sampling method, and assigned into two equal groups as treatment and control via randomization. The treatment group was trained for nine sessions of 90 min (one session per week) through process mental simulation training method, while the control group did not receive such training during this time. The data were collected through academic procrastination scale (Solomon and Rothblum, 1984) and academic stress (Zajacova and et al., 2005), and then analyzed using repeated measure analysis of variance and Bonferroni post hoc test in SPSS-19 software. Findings: The results revealed that the treatment and control group differed significantly with each other in the posttest and follow-up stages. In other words, the process mental simulation training resulted in diminished academic procrastination and academic stress of gifted students, and the results were also preserved in the follow-up stage (P<0.001). Conclusion: The results indicated the effectiveness of process mental simulation training on academic procrastination and academic stress of gifted students in post-test and follow-up stages. Thus, the education experts can use the mentioned method alongside other effective methods for reducing the academic procrastination and academic stress of students.
