Various studies suggest that it is important to determine students' personality charecteristics and assertiveness and make them aware of these differences in order to improve learning process and outcomes. This study aimed to find out how much of the variance in postgraduate students’ assertiveness is explained by five personality characteristics (i.e., Openness, Neuroticism, Extroversion, Agreeableness, and Conscientiousness) and which one of these characteristics significantly predicts the students’ assertiveness. To this end, 66 postgraduate students within the age range of 22 to 35 participated in this descriptive correlational study. They were majoring in English language teaching at Islamic Azad University,Tabriz Branch, Tabriz, Iran. The College Self-expression Scale (CSES) and Big-Five Personality Inventory were used to assess the students’ level of assertiveness and their personality characteristics, respectively. In order to answer the research questions, a multiple linear regression analysis was carried out. The results revealed that about 14 percent of the postgraduate students’ assertiveness is explained by five personality characteristics and out of them, only Extroversion has a significant contribution to their assertiveness. The pedagogical implications are presented for teachers, students, syllabus designers, and materials writers.

Abstract Introduction: The aim of this study was to evaluate the Comparison of Personality characteristics and Clinical syndrome owners Pets keeper and People without Pets. Methodology: The research method was causal-comparative. The statistical population included all pets and non-domestic animals resident in the 20th district of Tehran in 2018. The sample consisted of 160 individuals with pets (80) and non-pets (80) who were selected based on available sampling. Measurement tool was McCrae and Costa's Personality characteristics questionnaire (1992) and clinical checklist Drogates and colleagues (1973). Data analysis was carried out through questionnaire implementation through spss22 software in two descriptive and inferential sections (Multivariable Analyze of Variance). Findings: The results showed that the difference between the two groups was significant in all personality traits, except for neuroticism. According to the comparison of the averages, it is evident that pet owners and owners have extraversion, less openness to experience, duty, and acceptability than non-pet animals. Also, the results of multivariate analysis of clinical syndrome showed that the difference between the two groups in all clinical syndromes was significant except for obsessive-compulsive disorder. Conclusion: Regarding the comparison of the averages, it was found that pets owning and having pets have higher levels of physical complaints, interpersonal sensitivity, depression, anxiety, aggression, paranoid thoughts, and psychosis.

Purpose: The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between the components of academic performance with personality traits and early maladaptive schemas mediated by self-determination. Method: The research method was descriptive-correlation and structural equation modeling. The statistical population of the present study included all female high school students in Tehran in the academic year 2019-2020. For this purpose, 350 students were selected by simple random sampling. Then their scores were measured through the Academic Procrastination Scale, Solomon and Rothblum (1984), Young Schema Short Form (2003), Neo-Form Short Personality Questionnaire (1985), Guardia, Desi and Ryan (2000) Self-Determination Questionnaire. Path analysis, structural equations and regression test were used. Findings: Pearson correlation coefficient and path analysis showed that there is a positive and significant relationship between all components of academic affiliation with the components of early maladaptive schemas and the role of self-determination is in the relationship between the two(P<00/01). Also, the relationship between all components of academic work and personality traits except psychosis was negative. The relationship between the end-of-semester exam component of academic work with conscientiousness and agreement of personality traits was not significant and the role of self-determination in the relationship between these two variables is indirect. Conclusion: According to the results of the present study, the importance and role of self-determination in reducing academic procrastination can be understood.
