CEO Power, Corporate Risk-Taking, and the Role of Institutional Owners: Pieces of Evidence of Tehran Stock Exchange Market and Iran Fara Bourse(مقاله علمی وزارت علوم)

"Corporate governance" includes mechanisms to monitor CEO's performance to assure efficient decision adoption and maximize firm value. One of the most effective aspects of firm performance is the degree of risk-taking. This study investigates the relationship between CEO power and institutional ownership with risk-taking behavior of member firms of Tehran Stock Exchange and Iran Fara Bourse during 2010-2019 by utilizing quintile regression. According to the results, by the increase of CEO's power and the company's benefit from powerful managers, the company risk (total risk and systemic risk) will decrease. As a result, managers are eager to safeguard their reputation as expert decision-makers and, as a result, they try to reduce company risk. In addition, the existence of institutional ownership among the shareholders of the company will reduce the risk, which can be referred to in the agency theory. Also, if the impact of these two variables is considered together, the risk will increase significantly. This very fact reflects the exercise of the power and influence of institutional owners. As a result, large shareholders have a supervisory role in the discipline of managers, but despite their impact on the relationship between managers' power and corporate risk, they do not alter the main negative relationship.

Investigating the predictive role of psychological factors in the incidence of sports injuries (musculoskeletal) of elite male volleyball players(مقاله علمی وزارت علوم)

Abstract Introduction: This study aimed to investigate the predictive role of psychological factors in the incidence of sports injuries (musculoskeletal) of elite male volleyball players. Methods: This was a descriptive-correlational research study design. The study was conducted with 150 elite male volleyball players in the Premier League of Khorasan Razavi province in 2020. In order to collect data, three standard questionnaires including, Sports Injuries Questionnaire (Esmaeili, 2014), Personality Traits Questionnaire (Eysink, 1975), and Competitive State Anxiety Questionnaire (CSAI-2) Rainer and Martens (1990) were used. In order to analyze the data in this study, SPSS software version 23 was used. Results: The results show that competitive anxiety can explain sports injuries (musculoskeletal) in the first model.. In the second model, when the somatic anxiety variable is added; Competitive anxiety and somatic anxiety variables can explain sports injuries. In the final model, the factors of competitive anxiety, somatic anxiety, self-confidence, risk-taking, excitement, and aggression can explain sports injuries. Conclusion: Therefore, it can be said that psychological factors play a role in the incidence of sports injuries (skeletal-muscular) of elite male volleyball players

Investigating the Impact of Entrepreneurial Orientation on Company Performance with Considering the Role of Sustainable Entrepreneurial Orientation and Its Consequences(مقاله علمی وزارت علوم)

Purpose : Entrepreneurial orientation as a new phenomenon in the economy is in a wide range and in interaction with entrepreneurship. Therefore, the purpose of this research was investigating the impact of entrepreneurial orientation on company performance with considering the role of sustainable entrepreneurial orientation and its consequences. Methodology : This study in terms of purpose was applied and in terms of implementation method was cross-sectional from type of quantitative. The research population was the entrepreneurial managers of companies located in the scientific-research of Isfahan city in 2020 year with number 208 people, which all of them selected by census sampling method, but the questionnaire for 187 people was received. The research instrument was a researcher-made questionnaire with 38 items and seven components of innovation, pioneering, risk-taking, sustainable entrepreneurial orientation, creation and expansion of new markets, organization and effective use of resources and company performance, which whose validity was confirmed by the opinion of experts and their reliability was evaluated as suitable by Cronbach's alpha method. Data were analyzed with exploratory factor analysis and structural equation modeling methods in SPSS and Smart PLS software. Findings : The findings showed that the factor load and average variance extracted of all components of innovation, pioneering, risk-taking, sustainable entrepreneurial orientation, creation and expansion of new markets, organization and effective use of resources and company performance was higher than 0.50 and the reliability of all of them with Cronbach's alpha and combination methods was higher than 0.70. In addition, the model of entrepreneurial orientation on company performance with considering the role of sustainable entrepreneurial orientation and its consequences had a good fit. Also, the sustainable entrepreneurial orientation had a direct and significant effect on innovation, pioneering, risk-taking, creation and expansion of new markets, organization and effective use of resources and company performance and company performance had a direct and significant effect on creation and expansion of new markets and organization and effective use of resources (P<0.05). Conclusion : The findings of this research indicated that entrepreneurial orientation was effective on the company performance with considering the role of sustainable entrepreneurial orientation and its consequences.

A Qualitative Evaluation of the Impact of Online Visually-Based L2 Acquisition on College Students’ Risk-Taking, Motivation, and Anxiety(مقاله علمی وزارت علوم)

The paper deals with the topic of visually based L2 acquisition in higher education and evaluates the impact of the use of visual images based on Kolb´s theory of experiential learning. It evaluates its impact on the students´ risk-taking, motivation and anxiety. The research was conducted at the English Department of the University of Diyala, Iraq. The total number of participants was forty (n = 40) and they all were first-year students at English Department. The research was conducted by using guided interviews through the Google Meet platform. The main idea of the research was to evaluate how much will experiential learning, via the reading pictures technique, influence college students’ risk-taking, motivation, and anxiety. The research results show that students’ motivation and risk-taking were affected positively by using pictures. It further shows that the classroom anxiety of the students was less affected than the other two variables

Presenting a model of the relationship between monetary policies, capital structure and banks' risk-taking(مقاله علمی وزارت علوم)

The main objective of this study is to investigate the relationship between monetary policies, capital structure and risk-taking of listed banks in Tehran Stock Exchange. In this study, to measure the monetary policies, the indicator of legal reserve rate have been used. The sample consists of 21 banks listed in Tehran Stock Exchange in the period from 2012 to 2018. In this study, the data were extracted from the Rahavard Novin 3 software and then classified by Excel software, and after calculating the variables, finally, through Eviews10 software, the multivariable regression model and panel data was used to test the hypotheses. The results showed that there is significant negative relationship between monetary policies and banks' risk-taking with in 95% confidence level. In addition, other findings indicated existence of a significant positive relationship between monetary policies and bank capital structure. However, the research results show that there is no significant relationship between bank capital structure and banks' risk-taking.

The rapid advancement of technology has opened up new avenues for language learning, and understanding the factors that impact students' behavioural intentions is crucial for the effective integration of technology in EFL classrooms. The present study investigates the influence of risk-taking behaviour and the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) in enhancing the behavioural intention of English as a Foreign Language (EFL) students through the integration of technology. The study utilized a quantitative research approach, employing surveys and data analysis techniques to test reliability using the PLS-SEM program tool to gather and analyze data from a sample of 75 EFL college students. The participants were assessed during the continuous assessment of the course based on their risk-taking tendencies, as well as their perceptions and attitudes towards technology acceptance according to the TAM framework. The study's findings are intended to offer important new understandings of the correlation between risk-taking behaviour and TAM characteristics (perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use), and EFL college students' behavioural intention. Additionally, the research aims to identify the factors that positively influence students' intention to adopt and utilize technology in their language learning process. The implications of this study can contribute to the development of effective strategies for educators and institutions to enhance EFL college students' behavioural intention through technology integration. By understanding the role of risk-taking behaviour and TAM variables, educators can design instructional approaches that align with students' preferences and promote active engagement in the learning process.
