The present study was an investigation of metacognitive strategy training on improving Iranian EFL learners’ listening performance and the differences and similarities at three levels of elementary, intermediate, and advanced levels. Few studies have been conducted to investigate three levels. So, 348 third grade female senior high school students of Zanjan/Iran were selected through multistage cluster random sampling method and based on Cambridge placement test (2010), 116, 132, and 100 students in 3 elementary, advanced, and control groups participated in this experimental study. During two months and over period of nine forty-minute sessions, students in experimental groups received metacognitive and listening instructions. To address the research question, ANOVA test was conducted and the results showed that there were meaningful differences between students’ performance and the students of experimental advanced group showed more improvement than students in experimental intermediate and elementary groups, and students of intermediate experimental group showed more improvement than students in experimental elementary group. The implication of the study is that metacognitive strategy training should be incorporated into the regular listening teaching programs to help students become more effective listeners.

Methodology: In this study the training of self – determination skills and depression were considered as the in dependent and dependent variables, respectively. The present study was a field test method with pretest – posttest and follow-up with control group. The tool of this study was children’s depression inventory (CD1). The sample consisted of 30 sixth grade primary school girl student with depression (15 in experimental group and 15 in control group) who were enrolled in the 1394 – 95 academic year, who were choose using purposive sampling method and divided into two groups. Experimental and control both groups were taker pretest before the training of self – determination skills, the experimental group were provided self – determination skills and not provided to control group. Immediately after the end of the training course, both groups were taken pretests of depression inventory. Both groups were taken follow-up test about two months after the training course. Findings: The results of covariance analysis suggested that the training of self – determination skills meaningfully reduces the student’s oppression. 13at in the control group who did not receive training there was not any changes in the student’s depression. Conclusion: The result of covariance analysis shows that the training of self – determination skills during the time effects the student’s depression.

The stratified sampling method was used to determine the sample size. A sample of 320 urban students and 268 rural students were selected based on Cochran formula at the error level 5%. The instruments for data collection were Solomon & Roth Blum Academic Procrastination Questionnaire (1984), and Academic Engagement Questionnaire of Frederic et al. (2004), which had formal and content validity, and reliability was obtained 0.84 and 0.87, respectively, according to Cronbach's alpha coefficient. Data were analyzed by SPSS-21 software using t-test at the significance level of 0.05. Findings: The results showed that there was a significant difference between the academic procrastination scores of rural and urban students (p <0.05). The mean of urban students' procrastination was greater than that of rural students. There was also a difference between academic Engagement of rural and urban students (p <0.05). Methodology: The research design was an exploratory (qualitative-quantitative) mix. In the qualitative part of the target population, all teachers of the sixth grade of elementary school in the 5th district of Tehran and professors of psychology and educational sciences were prestigious universities in the country, which were selected by purposive sampling of 10 teachers and 10 specialists. In a small part of the population considered in this study, all female primary school students in the sixth grade of the 5th district of Tehran in the year 1998-97, 350 of them were selected as a sample and in random clusters. In the qualitative part of the research, a semi-structured interview was used to obtain information and in the quantitative part, a researcher-made questionnaire was used. The validity and reliability of the questionnaire were confirmed. Factors with very minor changes in exploratory and confirmatory factor analyze using LISREL software and SPSS / 26 were accepted. Findings: The research findings showed that seven main factors namely students' interests and abilities, teacher characteristics, textbook content, learning style, educational space and school facilities, family and management style and principals' attitudes are effective in students' creativity. It is also unders tandable fact that there are locally known spatial and non-spatial factors that affect education quality. Therefore, the main objective of this s tudy was to identify spatial and non-spatial factors that influence educational quality of primary schools in emerging regions. As methodological approach, the s tudy was used descriptive design approach with mix of qualitative and quantitative method. The main data sources were both primary and secondary data. Primary data were collected from spatial and non-spatial data sources. The spatial information was mainly collected from GPS reading, aerial photo and land use plan. Non spatial primary data were collected using interviews and discussions. The perceptions and reflections of key informants (teachers, students, principals and parents) were entertained by using focus group discussion, key informant interview and public hearings. The secondary data sources were collected by means of desk review. As result, the study was found that education quality in the city is weakening. The underlying causes are, low teachers motivation level, high students- teacher ratio, high students- section ratio, lack of instructional materials, lack of infras tructure and facilities.
