Analysis of the Relationship between Self-Control and Social Desirability with the Ethical Report of Banking Delinquency (With Emphasis on Demographic Characteristics of Employees)(مقاله علمی وزارت علوم)
Background: Reporting delinquency as an important and effective moral behavior can be influenced by the moral values that govern the organization and personality traits of individuals. Therefore, given the importance of the role of reporting in identifying and preventing organizational delinquency, it is necessary to gain a better understanding of the factors that affect it. The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of self-control and social desirability on the ethical reporting of banking delinquency of bank employees, with emphasis on demographic characteristics. Method: This descriptive-survey study was conducted and its sample size consisted of 306 employees of public and private bank branches. The research variables were measured using standard questionnaires and finally structural equations, confirmatory factor analysis method and PLS software were used to analyze the data and test the hypotheses. Results: The findings indicate that the effect of self-control and social desirability on the ethical reporting of banking delinquency is confirmed. Social desirability also affects the relationship between self-control and ethical reporting of banking delinquency. On the other hand, work experience, type of job position and gender of employees have a direct impact on the ethical reporting of banking delinquency. Conclusion: The results of the study show that people with higher self-control, seek more social desirability and are more inclined to report delinquency. It also seems that bank employees, in proportion to job promotion and increasing work experience, better understand the value of reporting delinquency and with a greater sense of commitment, try to identify and report violations in order to improve the position of the bank. Therefore, by formulating ethical guidelines, incentive policies and accountability, positive personality traits (self-control and social desirability) and inherent reporting motivations of bank employees can be strengthened. The main Purpose of this study is to explore the Nature of piety from an anthropological perspective by reflecting on the Qur'an and comparing piety construct with self-control. Methodologically, conceptual analysis was used. Verses from the Holy Quran that share the root of taqwa were taken into consideration. Based on anthropological foundations of piety in holy Quran , the process of piety entails a goal-oriented valuing of options and making preferences at the moment of selection. The selection can be based on instinctive, intellectual or religious criteria but it contains all three phases of diagnosis, preference, and practical commitment to preferred option. This structure of piety is comparable with self-control. Overlap of Islamic and psychologic perspectives in explaining the basic structure of piety and self-control is very impressive. Although Piety as a monotheistic life concept will ultimately separate from self-control but overlapping of anthropological elements of these two concepts are essential
The Effectiveness of Mindfulness Training on Aggression, Mind Rumination and Self-Control(مقاله علمی وزارت علوم)
حوزههای تخصصی:
Mindfulness training optimally has positive effects on cognitive, emotional and behavioral processes. In mindfulness training, experiencing pure reality is taught which means mindfulness training helps one to find the here and now without judgment and to accept whatever is happening in each moment without any comment. The aim of this study was to investigate the effectiveness of mindfulness training on aggression, mind rumination, and self-control in female students with low academic performance. This research adopted an applied and true experimental design with pre-test/post-test and a control group and the data were analyzed quantitatively. The statistical population included all female students of the Junior high schools in Tabriz with low academic performance in the academic year of 2021-22, estimated as 8395 people. First, through multi-stage cluster sampling, district 1 was selected from among the 5 educational districts of Tabriz and then three schools were selected from this district. Afterwards, through simple random sampling, 50 people were selected and randomly assigned to two groups with 25 participants as the experiemental and control groups. The experimental group received the intervention program of mindfulness training for 8 sessions of 2 hours while the control group continued its traditional method. The tools used to collect data included a self-control questionnaire (Tangney, Baumeister, & Boone, 2004), the aggression questionnaire (Buss & Perry, 1992), and the mind rumination questionnaire (Nolen-Hoeksema, & Morrow, 1991). For data analysis, in addition to descriptive statistics, Shapiro-Wilk test, multivariate analysis of variance test (MANOVA),
Netflix is the new Scheherazade! Exploring the relationships between online binge-watching, self-control, and bedtime procrastination among college students in Iran
حوزههای تخصصی:
Online binge-watching is a common practice nowadays. It is defined as watching multiple episodes in one sitting. It may seem a new phenomenon, but the same mechanism happened to the Persian King and kept him listening to Scheherazade's stories for 1001 nights, which made him forgot about killing young virgin girls and also delayed his bedtime. This study aims to investigate the relationships between these variables in Iranian college students in Ghazvin with a sample of 133 people between the ages of 19 and 25 using brief self-control scale (BSCS), bedtime procrastination scale (BPS), and binge-watching addiction questionnaire (BWAQ). The research indicates that there is a notable negative correlation between online binge-watching and self-control (r = -.443, p < .001). Also, a negative relationship between self-control and bedtime procrastination was found (r = -.360, p < .001). Further, a positive correlation between online binge-watching and bedtime procrastination was detected (r = .307, p < .001). The problematic binge-watching can be identified by the motives and cognitive processes underlying this phenomenon, such as narrative transportation. Ways to prevent mental illness caused by them and future research paths are discussed.

حوزههای تخصصی:
Social control of cyberspace is a necessity to restrict online transgressions (non-normative behaviors), and reduce their disruptive effects. The current study aimed at examining the factors affecting social control of cybercultural transgressions. A questionnaire was administered to Iranian social media users, and 989 participants have filled it out. A path analysis model was constructed testing the effects of Low Self-Control, Depression, Negative Interpersonal Relationships, Computer/ Internet Self-Efficacy, Netiquette, and Normative Beliefs on Transgressive Behaviors, and Transgressive Content Consumption. The results showed that Low Self-Control increased both criterion variables, and fully or partially mediated the effects of other variables on them, except for Negative Interpersonal Relationships. The important contribution of the current study was the recognition of the role of self-control as a mediator among examined variables. The findings of this study can be employed to devise new policies and initiatives to socially control the cybercultural transgressions, without applying coercion.

حوزههای تخصصی:
Cyber transgressions (nonnormative behaviors, attitudes and conditions)– both cultural and criminal– have raised social control concerns among different stakeholders. A group comparison research design was adopted to examine the effects of sociodemographic factors and social media use habits of Iranian social media users (n= 989) on their self-control, cybercultural transgressive behaviors, and transgressive content consumption. The study has contributed to the literature by recognizing the impacts of gender, age, relationship status, parental, educational, and occupational status, and household income level on the outcome variables. Altogether, it can be inferred from the results that individuals (especially women) who are older, married, have children, are middle-income, university educated, non-student, have more years of Internet use experience, and less daily internet use, and have a job (also retired individuals and housewives) are less likely than others to commit online transgressive behaviors, or consume transgressive content. The findings of this study can be employed to devise new policies and initiatives to socially control the cybercultural transgressions, without applying coercion.
