Problem-based Learning (PBL) as one of the newest teaching methods in the area of language teaching in second and foreign contexts, has been used by teachers in the last two decades in different institutes. In the current study, attempts were made to find out the effect of the two PBL subcategories, i.e. Hybrid Problem-based Learning (H-PBL) and Pure Problem-based Learning (PPBL) in comparison to a traditional lecture-based method, on Iranian EFL university learners’ speaking skill and their self-confidence, by implementing these two methods in the EFL classroom using eight teacher-made real-world problems. To this purpose, 56 undergraduate participants of Payam Noor university (PNU) in Abadan, Iran, were randomly selected, divided into a control group and two treatment HPBL and PPBL groups. The statistical analysis of the obtained results of the participants’ pretest-posttest scores, through one-way ANCOVA and Man-Whitney U test, revealed that the treatment groups outperformed the control group in speaking skill and self-confidence The findings of the study might bear implications for teachers and university curriculum designers to take more proper approaches towards the instructing university participants.

Purpose: The aim of the present study was to design a jiهادی management model in Islamic Azad University; Methodology: The present study was applied in terms of purpose, exploratory in terms of mixed method and descriptive-survey in terms of data collection. The statistical population of the qualitative part of the research included experts from Islamic Azad University at the educational and executive level. To determine the samples of this study, ten people were selected using targeted non-random sampling method and saturation principle. The statistical population of the quantitative sector, including all managers and senior experts of the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology and the Central Organization of the Islamic Azad University, was 480 people, using Cochran's formula and stratified random sampling method, 214 people as sample size. Selected. To collect data, semi-structured interview tools and a researcher-made questionnaire were used. To validate the instrument in the qualitative part of the research, the valuable opinions of professor’s familiar with the field and academic experts who were experts in this field were used, and the reliability of the experiment and the method of agreement within the subject were used to calculate the reliability of the interviews. In order to determine the validity of the questionnaire, content and structure validity were used and reliability was calculated through Cronbach's alpha coefficient and combined reliability, which showed the validity and reliability of the tool. The method of data analysis in the qualitative part of theoretical coding was derived from the method of fundamental data processing theory. In the quantitative and inferential part, confirmatory factor analysis and structural equation modeling were used using Smart Pls-v2 software. Results: The results of the study showed that participation, contentment, institutionalizing moral values and giving importance to the treasury were influential factors on jiهادی management and effective factors of jiهادی management including self-confidence, transformation, hard work and speed of action in Things are. Also, the components of jiهادی management in Islamic Azad University include management for God, provincial management, flexibility, structure and appropriate organization. According to the identified factors, finally, the jiهادی management model was presented in Islamic Azad University, which had a suitable fit. Conclusion: Based on the research findings, it can be concluded that there is a direct and significant relationship between the defined components and the jiهادی management model in the society of free universities of the country and these components are effective in explaining jiهادی management in society.

Introduction: The present study aimed to investigate the relationship between Self-compassion and precompetitive anxiety among female athlete students. Methods: This was a descriptive correlational study. Two hundred and fifty-three female students (140 taekwondo & 113 karate) were selected among athletes present at the 14th Student Cultural Sports Olympiad. Self-compassion Scale and Competitive State Anxiety–2 were used in this study before competing in games to measure the aforementioned theoretical constructs. Results: The obtained results revealed a significant relationship between pre-competitive anxiety and Self-compassion. Moreover, the components of this characteristic positively predicted self-confidence variance; however, this prediction reversed with somatic and cognitive anxiety. Conclusion: Based on the current study results, Self-compassion plays a moderating role in the pre-competitive anxiety of female martial arts athletes. Therefore, improving this characteristic should be considered to promote self-confidence and reduce the pre-competitive anxiety in these athletes.

Comparison of Rescue Workers in the Kermanshah Earthquake and Non-rescuers in the Red Crescent Society in Terms of Self-efficacy, Quality of Work Life, and Self-confidence(مقاله پژوهشی وزارت بهداشت)

INTRODUCTION: Various studies have demonstrated that rescuers enjoy higher levels of self-efficacy and quality of life, as compared to ordinary people. Moreover, the constant and sometimes prolonged presence of Red Crescent Society rescuers at the scene of disasters makes them more prone to the emotional impact of crises, in comparison with ordinary rescuers. METHODS: The present study was conducted based on a causal-comparative (ex-post facto) design. The statistical population included 200 cases, and the sample size was equal to 120 (60 rescuers and 60 non-rescuers who were selected via the random sampling method). Scherrer self-efficacy questionnaire (1983), quality of work life questionnaire (1973), and Coopersmith self-confidence questionnaire (1967) were used to collect data, and data analysis was performed by analysis of variance. FINDINGS: As evidenced by the obtained results, the highest and lowest percentages of rescuers were in the age group of 20-30 (51.92%) and under 20 years (5.77%), respectively. In terms of education, the highest and lowest percentages of rescuers had a bachelor’s degree (61.7%) and high school education (1.7%). Furthermore, the highest and lowest percentages of non-rescuers were permanent (63.73%) and contract employees (1.7%), respectively. CONCLUSION: The results pointed out that rescuers enjoyed higher levels of self-confidence, quality of work life, and self-efficacy, as compared to non-rescuers.

In the framework of Howard Gardner's theory of multiple intelligences, we have studied the possible impact of emphasis on multidimensional intelligence on developing learner autonomy and we asked ourselves if a syllabus designed based on the learners' multiple intelligences help develop learner autonomy more effectively. Autonomy is considered to be a key factor in the promotion of the process of learning a foreign language, through enhancing learner motivation and self-confidence. Nevertheless, it is not always the focus of teaching. We believed it possible to help develop learner autonomy more efficiently, by emphasizing on individual intelligence profiles. Thus, we aim to establish, if and how effectively, an Iranian learner’s autonomy is influenced, when reached out to, through his multiple intelligences. In this research, a descriptive and synthetic approach will be applied. After presenting the main theoretical guidelines on which our research is based, we will share results of a field study conducted in this respect, on 30 adult Iranian learners of French as a foreign language (FFL) of the lower intermediate level (B1 of the CEFRL) and analyze the data quantitatively and qualitatively.

Second language (L2) education researchers have recently been concerned about students' willingness to communicate (WTC) since communication competence is considered an ultimate goal of L2 education. This study examines Vietnamese teachers' perceptions of L2 WTC and their strategies to encourage students to communicate inside the classroom. Data were collected from interviews with 30 Vietnamese EFL university teachers. Results showed that all the teachers believed students' L2 WTC inside the classroom influenced the development of second language acquisition (SLA) and perceived their role in encouraging WTC. Also, the teachers revealed that they used a wide range of strategies to encourage students to communicate. The findings suggest that L2 teachers use a wide range of strategies to promote students’ WTC inside the classroom. It might be necessary for Vietnamese EFL teachers to update strategies to encourage WTC inside the classroom.
