چکیده
هدف : این پژوهش در نظر دارد با تکیه بر اسناد وزارت امور خارجه بریتانیا، سیاست های اتخاذشده ازسوی این دولت درقبال ظل السلطان، «پس از» خروج اجباری او از کشور را بررسی و تبیین کند. روش/رویکرد پژوهش : این پژوهش رویکردی توصیفی-تحلیلی دارد و برمبنای اسناد آرشیوی و کتاب خانه ای انجام شده است. یافته ها و نت جه گیری : حمایت کردن و حمایت نکردن بریتانیا از بازگشت ظل السلطان به ایران طی دوران اقامتش در اروپا، به عوامل متعددی وابسته بوده است. امید بریتانیا به برخوردارشدن از حمایت ظل السلطان از منافع این دولت درمقام فرمانداری مقتدر در فارس یا اصفهان، جلوگیری از نفوذ روزافزون آلمان در جنوب ایران در خلال جنگ جهانی اول، و نیز مقابله با اقدامات سلطه جویانه روسیه در این مناطق، ازجمله مهم ترین عوامل حمایت بریتانیا از حضور مجدد ظل السلطان در ایران بوده اند. عمده ترین دلیل حمایت نکردن بریتانیا از بازگشت ظل السلطان را نیز می توان مخالفت خان های بختیاری با حضور ظل السلطان در اصفهان و تهدیدشدن بریتانیا ازسوی این خان ها دانست.The Role of Britain in Zil-al-Sultan’s Political Fate after his departure from Iran, Based on the Archival Records of Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs of the United Kingdom (1908-1916)
Purpose : This study aims to investigate and explain the policies adopted by Britain towards Zil-al-Sultan «after» he was forced to leave the country, based on the Archival Records of Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs of the United Kingdom. Method and Design: Archival records were studied and analyzed in a descriptive and analytical way. Findings and conclusions : There are diverse factors that Britain intended to support returning of Zil-al-Sultan to Iran while he was living in Europe. Among which are Britain's hope for enjoying the benefits of Zil-al-Sultan's government as a powerful governor in Fars or Isfahan, preventing the ever-increasing influence of Germany in southern parts of Iran during the World War I, and confronting the Russia’s domineering behaviors in these areas. Furthermore, the opposition of Bakhtiari Khans to Zil-al-Sultan's presence in Isfahan was the main reason that Britain prevented his return.
