Temporality and Intuitive Perception in Woolf’s Fiction: A Bergsonian Reading(مقاله علمی وزارت علوم)

Time and perception are two major concerns of Woolf in many of her novels and short stories. Woolf as a modernist writer often tries in her fiction to find an epistemological solution to the problems of mortality and immortality, appearance and reality and diversity and unity and she succeeds, I think, by taking on a kind of perception that is intuitive and temporal. For her, true perception is time-bound, but like Bergson she divides time into mechanical and organic one. In her writing, she often associates symbolically the former with death and aridity and the latter with life and fertility, presenting them in the images, to name but a few of keyboard of a piano or alphabetical letters and tree or green shawl and dress, respectively. Evidently, in her views and the solution, she finds to the problems of time and perception Woolf is influenced by Bergson whose theory of time has also influenced so many other modernists. This paper elaborates on the relationship between time and perception in the works of Woolf, especially in her two major novels To the Lighthouse (1927) and Mrs Dalloway (1924) and her short story “An Unwritten Novel” (1921).

The future and how we envision and anticipate it has been the subject of scholarly attention for some time, especially from political theorists, scholars of human geography, and anthropologists. This article draws on some of this literature, but particularly the work of Franco ‘Bifo’ Berardi, the Italian Marxist theorist and activist, to explore the implications of two activist strategies that have recently received some attention from translation scholars: prefiguration and aspirational translation. It reflects on the different orientations to the future implied in these two strategies and suggests that their relative appeal is impacted by the rise of semiocapitalism in what Berardi refers to as ‘the century with no future’, and by varying experiences of activists located in different regions of the world. The work of translation and how translators orient themselves to the future, it is argued, can play an important role in arresting if not reversing the ongoing erosion of those possibilities still inscribed in the present despite semiocapitalism’s growing control over every area of human life.

Educational Time Based on Heidegger's Approach to Temporality(مقاله علمی وزارت علوم)

In this article, an attempt has been made to analyze the issue of time in education. First, to explore the nature of this concept, the distinction between the temporality of Being [Temporality] and the temporality of beings [temporality] which were distinguished by Heidegger, is discussed. Second, it’s indicated that the moment of vision is the authentic state of falling and one of the six temporal states. Considering the movie “Enemy at the Gates” this moment is explained the temporality of Being, preparations can be made for this moment in education. Third, it is argued that preparing for the moment of vision contradicts the elements of inauthentic education, i.e non-temporal goal and transcendence and speed- based orientation. finally, preparing for the moment of vison in education is a kind of lingering and soaking in the classical texts passing through the paths-experienced in encountering the texts. As a result, the moment of educational vision means time is no longer Newtonian-Aristotelian time. The mentioned moment, has fullness, and its fullness is caused by existentials and being-in-the-world of the learner and the teacher.
