Adolescence is characterized by physical, cognitive, emotional, social, and behavioral changes capable of resulting in the development of a healthy and autonomous individual, as well as contributing to self-injurious behavior. This review aimed to analyze the 11 available papers on risk factors for self-mutilation in adolescents. Integrative review performed in MEDLINE and LILACS databases using primary studies published between 2018 and 2023, in Portuguese, English, and Spanish with the descriptors “Self-destructive Behavior”; "Adolescent"; and “Risk Factors” combined with the Boolean operator AND. After analyzing the data, two main themes emerged. The first theme, referred to as "intrapersonal risk factors," encompassed a range of categories including depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, substance/alcohol abuse, disruptive, impulse and conduct control disorders, cyclothymic-hypersensitive temperament, impulsivity, avoidance/coping-focused on affect, and emotional dysregulation. The second theme, labeled as "interpersonal risk factors," consisted of categories such as bullying, parental neglect, parental psychopathology, social exclusion, peers with people with self-destructive behavior, hetero-aggressiveness, and sexual and gender minority populations. The findings of this review highlight the importance of increased awareness, early detection, and targeted interventions for self-mutilation. This study lays the ground for future research and interventions in mental health. Future studies could further explore psychological factors, societal influences, effective treatments, and prevention methods for self-mutilation. By expanding upon current knowledge, clinicians and researchers can better support individuals struggling with self-harm, leading to improved outcomes and reduced harm.

Marital infidelity is a deeply damaging interpersonal event that triggers cognitive, emotional, and behavioral responses in the affected spouse. This study aimed to examine the reactions and cognitive-behavioral-emotional coping mechanisms of women facing marital infidelity. The research methodology employed was applied both in its objective and qualitatively in its execution. The study sample comprised 18 women residing in Herat City, Afghanistan, who had experienced spousal infidelity and sought counseling in the year 2021. They were purposively selected and interviewed using a semi-structured approach. The interviews were analyzed using Braun and Clarke's (2021) thematic analysis method which resulted in the identification of three main themes chaos (initial reactions), involvement (secondary reactions), and revival, 11 subthemes (behavioral, psychological-emotional, mental, and psychosomatic response, changing circumstances, involvement in activities, companionship, adaptation, seeking therapy, self-care, and coerced continuation of the relationship) and 114 primary codes. The research findings indicated that the cognitive-behavioral-emotional process of Afghan women facing marital infidelity unfolds in three stages: chaos (initial reactions), involvement (secondary reactions), and revival. Furthermore, it was observed that affected women exhibit varied behaviors at each stage and undergo different emotions and thoughts. Factors such as the manner of infidelity disclosure, quality of marital relationship, religious beliefs, social and familial support, societal perspectives, limitations in choice, lifestyle, and the presence of children play significant roles in shaping their cognitive-behavioral-emotional responses. The practical implications of this research findings can be beneficial for counselors working with Afghan couples dealing with marital infidelity. Work-related behavior patterns toward stressor experiences reflect the staff's attitude toward their professional requirements. The work-related behavior experience patterns questionnaire (AVEM) has been developed to determine the work-related patterns of people in the face of job stress. The present study examined the psychometric properties of the Persian version of the AVEM in pre-service early childhood teachers- student teachers who are enrolled in a teacher education program and working toward teacher certification (n=429, 59.67% female). The confirmatory factor analysis results showed an 11-factor structure resembling the original factor structure in the Persian language. Additionally, results showed that the Persian version of the AVEM demonstrated high internal consistency and test-retest reliability. Overall, the findings support the validity and reliability of the Persian version of the AVEM, which can be used to assess work-related behavior and experience patterns. The AVEM can be used during pre-service teachers' education to evaluate the extent to which they report work behaviors associated with occupational stress and dissatisfaction. Pre-service early childhood teachers who tend to feel overwhelmed and helpless in stressful work situations should be identified early so that they can be offered support.

Abstract This study aimed to investigate the contribution of Cognitive, Emotional, and Spiritual intelligence (IQ, EQ, and SQ respectively) in explaining Problem-solving styles. To do this, 544 Iranian adults (14-80 years; 261 females and 283 males) participated in this study and were asked to answer the Problem-solving Questionnaire, Raven’s Progressive Matrices IQ Test, Bradbury-Greaves’ Emotional Intelligence Questionnaire, and the Spiritual Intelligence Questionnaire. Considering that the growth and formation of spiritual intelligence start in adolescence and will accompany a person until the end of his life, the sample of this research was selected from adolescence to adulthood. For data analysis, simultaneous multivariate regression was used, and the results showed that EQ (Emotional intelligence) and SQ (Spiritual intelligence ) were able to significantly predict the adaptive Problem-solving style (including creative Problem solving, confidence, and approach), IQ, EQ, and SQ were able to predict substantially the non-adaptive Problem-solving style (including helplessness, control, and avoidance) each person seems to be more successful in solving some problems due to the extent to which he/she uses different intelligence.
