Translations of Portfolio: A Genetic Reading of Ralph Waldo Emerson’s “Song of Seid Nimetollah of Kuhistan” (مقاله علمی وزارت علوم)

چکیده
This article looks at Ralph Waldo Emerson’s translation of a poem by Shah Nimatullah Wali, “Song of Seid Nimetollah of Kuhistan,” and through a genetic reading of its avant-texts demonstrates, firstly, how despite its pretense to faithfulness, the translation is affected by Emerson’s prior knowledge of the original culture. It will also demonstrate how the translation provides Emerson with a space to express his concerns in disguise of a translator. That is to say, through conscious and unconscious manipulation of the original text and introduction of the translation as an emblem of the foreign culture, Emerson affirms and naturalizes his own ideological position. This article also attempts to demonstrate how through the translation Emerson is identifying with the speaker, “leaving” his identity, and temporarily experiencing the moment of trance a dervish describes. In order to achieve these, this article benefits from Lawrence Venuti’s “hermeneutic model of translation” and Branka Arsic’s idea of “leaving.”ترجمه های پیش نویس: خوانش تکوینی «ترانه سید نعمت اله کوهستان» ترجمه رالف والدو امرسون
این مقاله به بررسی ترجمه رالف والدو امرسون از «ترانه سید نعمت اله کوهستان» اثر شاه نعمت الله ولی می پردازد و از طریق خوانش تکوینی پیش متن ها نشان می دهد که چگونه این ترجمه، با وجود تظاهر به وفاداری، تحت تأثیر آگاهی پیشینی امرسون از فرهنگ مبدأ قرار گرفته است. همچنین مقاله نشان می دهد که چگونه ترجمه، بستری برای امرسون فراهم می آورد تا دغدغه های شخصی اش را در پوششِ یک مترجم و به صورت غیرمستقیم بیان کند. به عبارت دیگر، امرسون از طریق دستکاری آگاهانه یا ناآگاهانه متن اصلی و معرفی ترجمه به عنوان نماد فرهنگ بیگانه، موضع ایدئولوژیک خود را تثبیت و طبیعی سازی می کند. علاوه بر این، مقاله سعی دارد نشان دهد که ترجمه چگونه امرسون را به همبستگی با سخنگو می رساند، به نوعی از هویت خود فاصله می گیرد و به طور موقتی لحظه ای از حال وهوای خلسه آمیز درویشی را تجربه می نماید. برای تحلیل این فرایندها، مقاله از «الگوی هرمنوتیکی ترجمه» لارنس ونوتی و مفهوم «رهاسازی هویت» در اندیشه برانکا آرسیک بهره می گیرد.
