psychological flexibility
حوزههای تخصصی:
Objective: The present study aims to determine the forecast of mindfulness, psychological flexibility, and coping styles regarding teacher marriage burnout.
Methods: The population of the study includes 550 married elementary school teachers in the city of Esfarayen (2021). Sampling was done based on the intended society (550 teachers). To do so, 225 teachers were selected using Morgan Table. Data-collection instruments include Paine’s Marital Burnout Questionnaire (1996), Nis and Vander Walj’s Cognitive Flexibility Questionnaire, Endler and Parker’s Coping Style Questionnaire, and Bayer et al.’s Five-scale Mindfulness Scale (2006). Finally, the collected data were analyzed by Spss24 software.
Results: Findings of the study indicated that the total mindfulness score and the subscales (i.e. action with awareness, lack of judgment, and lack of response) had a significant correlation with marriage burnout. Also, there was a significant negative correlation between the total score of psychological flexibility and the subscales– understanding controllability, understanding various options, and understanding behavior justification– and marriage burnout. In addition, there was a significant negative correlation between problem-focused coping style and marriage burnout. Also, avoidance coping style had a significant positive correlation with marriage burnout. Conversely, no significant correlation was found between emotional coping style and marriage burnout. Furthermore, according to the regression model, 26.3% of marriage burnout changes could be determined by lack of judgment (mindfulness), lack of response (mindfulness), problem-focused coping style, and avoidance coping style.
Conclusion: Overall, mindfulness, psychological flexibility, and coping styles were significant predictors of teacher marriage burnout. Therefore, teacher marriage burnout could be alleviated by creating some potential.
Effectiveness of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy on Suicidal Ideation, Emotional Self-regulation and Psychological Flexibility of Adolescents with Suicidal Ideation Referring to Social Emergency
حوزههای تخصصی:
This study aimed to examine the effectiveness of acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) on suicidal ideation, emotional self-regulation, and psychological flexibility in adolescents with suicidal ideation who were referred to a social emergency center. The research method was a quasi-experimental pretest-posttest design with a control group. The population of the study included all adolescents with suicidal ideation who visited the counseling center of the social emergency in Astaneh-ye Ashrafiyeh city in 2021. Thirty participants (15 in the control group and 15 in the experimental group) were selected from this population by purposive sampling and randomly assigned to two groups. The experimental group received eight 90-minute sessions of group ACT, while the control group was put on a waiting list. Data were collected using the Acceptance and Action Questionnaire (AAQ-2), the Cognitive Emotion Regulation Questionnaire (CERQ), and the Beck Scale for Suicide Ideation (BSSI). Data were analyzed using the analysis of covariance (ANCOVA) test. The results showed that there was a significant difference between the experimental and control groups in the posttest mean scores of the reappraisal component of emotion regulation and suicidal ideation. However, there was no significant difference in the flexibility and suppression components of emotion regulation. Based on the results of this study, it is recommended that psychologists and psychotherapists working in social emergency centers or with adolescents use the results of this study to improve emotion regulation and reduce suicidal ideation in their adolescent clients
Prediction of Depression, Anxiety and Stress in the Period Social Distancing Due to Coronavirus Based on Psychological Flexibility, Dysfunctional Attitude and Coping Strategies(مقاله علمی وزارت علوم)
حوزههای تخصصی:
Abstract Introduction and Objectives: Covid-19 pandemic in 2020 and the use of quarantine to prevent it have increased psychological reactions like depression, anxiety and stress in the general population. Hence, the need to identify variables that can affect these psychological reactions is felt more than ever. The aim of this study was to predict the rate of depression, stress and anxiety during quarantine based on psychological flexibility, dysfunctional attitude and coping styles. Method The research design was descriptive-correlational and the statistical population included all students who were active in the social media. A total of 501 students accessed the call for completion of questionnaires on online media, including Instagram, completed prepared questionnaires in the Google Form format. Measures included the Depression, Anxiety, and Stress Questionnaire (DASS-21, 1995), the Revised Dysfunctional Attitude Scale (DAS-26, 1978), the Acceptance and Practice Questionnaire (AAQ-II, 2005), and the Lazarus and Folkman Coping Strategies Questionnaire (CSQ, 1984). Results Psychological inflexibility, dysfunctional attitudes, and maladaptive coping strategies predicted depression, anxiety, and stress in a positive way, but problem-oriented coping strategies only showed an inverse relationship with depression. In regression analyzes, the variable of psychological inflexibility had the greatest effect on explaining depression, anxiety and stress. Discussion and Conclusion It can be concluded that teaching psychological flexibility and cognitive reconstruction can be useful in reducing depression, anxiety, and stress during the quarantine. Teaching problem-solving strategies can also have positive effects on reducing depression.
The Effectiveness of Mindful Self-Compassion Program on Distress Tolerance, Emotional Expression, and Psychological Flexibility in Individuals with Social Anxiety Disorder
حوزههای تخصصی:
Objective: The present study aimed to investigate the effectiveness of the mindfulness-based self-compassion program on distress tolerance, emotional expression, and psychological resilience in individuals with social anxiety disorder. Methods: This study was a quasi-experimental study with a pre-test and post-test design. Thirty individuals with social anxiety disorder were selected through purposive sampling in counseling centers and cyberspace, and they were randomly assigned to two experimental and control groups. At the beginning and end of the study, the two groups answered the questionnaires, including Social Phobia Inventory (SPI), Distress Tolerance Scale (DTS), Emotional Expressiveness Scale (EES), and Cognitive Flexibility Inventory (CFI). The experimental group underwent a mindful self-compassion intervention for eight weekly sessions, one session lasting 150 minutes, while the control group did not receive any treatment. Univariate analyses of covariance were employed to analyze the data using SPSS software version 27.Results: The results of ANCOVA analyses showed that there was a significant difference between the experimental and control groups in the post-test of distress tolerance, emotional expression, and psychological flexibility (p < 0.05). The results of the Bonferroni test showed that the experimental group had higher scores in the post-test of distress tolerance, emotional expression, and psychological flexibility than the control group (p < 0.05).Conclusion: Findings indicate that the mindful self-compassion program is effective in enhancing distress tolerance, emotional expression, and psychological flexibility for individuals with social anxiety disorder.
The Role of Psychological Flexibility, Acceptance, and Commitment in Marital Adjustment Among Couples(مقاله علمی وزارت علوم)
حوزههای تخصصی:
Objective: The present study aimed to determine the role of psychological flexibility, acceptance, and commitment in marital adjustment among couples. Method: This study was applied and descriptive-correlational in nature. The population included couples (both women and men) from Amol County, who were studied using a convenience sampling method involving 126 couples. Data were collected using the Cognitive Flexibility Inventory by Dennis and Vander Wal (2010), the second version of the Acceptance and Action Questionnaire by Bond et al. (2007), and the Spanier Dyadic Adjustment Scale (1976). For the analysis of data in the inferential statistics section, simultaneous multiple regression was conducted using SPSS version 21. Findings: The findings indicate that psychological flexibility, acceptance, and commitment can explain 16.9% of the variance in marital adjustment. The t-tests for significance in regression for the coefficient of psychological flexibility (β = 0.191) and acceptance and commitment (β = 0.285) were significant. Acceptance and commitment have a greater unique contribution in predicting marital adjustment among couples (α = 0.05). Conclusion: According to the results, the most significant influences on marital adjustment are acceptance and commitment, followed by psychological flexibility. It is recommended that the findings of this research be utilized to enhance marital adjustment among both women and men.
