The present study aimed to explore the effectiveness of group counseling of mindfulness-based cognitive therapy on internet addiction and cognitive emotion regulation in high school students. The research design was quasi-experimental and pretest-posttest type and a two-month follow-up with a control group. The population consisted of all male high school students in Takestan city in the academic year 2020-2021. The sample comprised 30 high school male students selected through convenience sampling method and randomly assigned to experimental (n = 15) and control (n = 15) groups. The experimental group then received 10 sessions of 90-minute group counseling of mindfulness-based cognitive therapy, and the control group did not receive any intervention. Data were gathered by Young’s Internet Addiction Questionnaire (IAQ) and the Cognitive Emotion Regulation Questionnaire (CERQ). The researcher also used multivariate analysis of covariance, repeated measures, LSD post hoc test and SPSS-26 software for data analysis. The results of comparing the experimental and control groups indicated that group counseling of mindfulness-based cognitive therapy had a significant effect on Internet addiction in high school students (P < 0.01). Furthermore, the results showed that Group counseling of mindfulness-based cognitive therapy had a significant effect on cognitive emotion regulation (P < 0.01). The findings indicated that group counseling of mindfulness-based cognitive therapy is an effective intervention in reducing Internet addiction and cognitive emotion regulation of secondary high school students.

Objective: This study aimed at investigating the effectiveness of mindfulness-based cognitive-behavioral therapy on the perceived stress, disease adaptation, quality of life, and cognitive function of patients undergoing chemotherapy. Method: The design of the study was semi-experimental with a pretest-post test and control group. The statistical population of this study was all patients with sarcoma-lymphatic and gastrointestinal cancer undergoing chemotherapy in Firoozgar-Taleghani-Shariati specialized hospitals in Tehran in the second half of 2021. The study sample consisted of 40 patients with cancer who were selected through convenience sampling and then were randomly assigned to experimental and control groups (20 in each group). The therapy was performed by the researcher for eight 90 minutes –sessions, two sessions per week. Research data were collected using Cohen's Perceived Stress Scale, Watson's disease adaptability, Barclay's cognitive functions, and quality of life questionnaires, and were analyzed by multivariate repeated measures variance analysis. Results: The results showed a significant difference in all variables, and demonstrated that mindfulness-based cognitive therapy significantly improved perceived stress, disease adaptation, quality of life, and cognitive functions of participants in the experimental group in the post-test and follow-up. Conclusion: According to the research findings, it can be concluded that mindfulness-based cognitive therapy is effective in improving the psychological indicators of cancer patients.

Objective: Patients suffering from psychosomatic disorders such as peptic ulcers struggle with many psychological and physical problems. This study aimed to compare the effectiveness of group mindfulness-based cognitive therapy (MBCT) with emotion-focused therapy (EFT) on cognitive emotional regulation of patients with peptic ulcer. Method: This semi-experimental study was conducted with a pre-test-post-test-3-month follow-up design and a control group. For this purpose, 45 patients were selected through convenience sampling method among patients referred to specialized internal medicine clinics during Jan-March 2023. The participants were randomly assigned to three groups i.e. control (15 people), EFT (15 people), and mindfulness-based cognitive therapy (15 people). The intervention groups received eight sessions of mindfulness-based cognitive therapy/ emotion-focused therapy. The control group did not receive any treatment during the study. The participants completed the standard cognitive emotion regulation questionnaire of Garnefski and Kraaij before, after and three months after the interventions. The obtained data were analyzed by repeated measurement analysis of variance and Bonferroni test. Results: Overall, the obtained results showed that EFT and mindfulness-based cognitive therapy are effective in the emotional regulation of patients with peptic ulcers (P=0.001). Comparing the effectiveness of mindfulness-based cognitive therapy with emotion therapy on adaptive (P=0.56) and maladaptive (P=0.22) emotional regulation showed no significant difference in patients with peptic ulcer. Conclusion: Therefore, it can be said that both emotional therapy methods and mindfulness-based cognitive therapy have a positive effect on the emotional regulation of patients with peptic ulcers, and these two methods can be used for the improvement of emotional improvement in patients.
