This s tudy reviewed the effectiveness of architectural space design for healing and humanization in Lagos University Teaching Hospital, (LUTH), Nigeria. The s tudy adopted a semi-s tructured interview and physical appraisal of the selected major departments within the s tudy area. Also, a literature review of pas t s tudies on hospital buildings was done to buttress and advocate for the importance of architectural spaces design for healing and humanization of the users in the hospital environment. Factors of architectural space design in hospital buildings were identified and classified through the literature of pas t s tudies and a conceptual framework was developed through it. These factors were categorized under the following headings. This includes functional design factors (FDF), aes thesis design factors (ADF), environmental design factors (EDF), security & safety design factors (SSDF), and Physiological & Psychosocial design factors (PPDF). The s tudy provides information on the importance of architectural space design on overall hospital performance. This s tudy contributes to methods of evaluating architectural space design quality in hospital buildings in Nigeria and a similar context.

This s tudy explores traumatic effects and healing in Toni Morrison’s Home based on Cathy Caruth’s theory of trauma. By analyzing the novel’s portrayal of trauma, it inves tigates the manifes tations of trauma, the mechanisms of healing, and the interconnectedness between literary representations and academic trauma theory. The s tudy enhances the unders tanding of the memories of war and s truggles with feelings of guilt and shame. Reviewing exis ting literature, it identifies gaps in the application of Caruth’s concepts in analyzing the novel, emphasizing the need for a more in-depth exploration. The methodology involves applying Caruth’s theories to Morrison’s narrative s trategies, examining fragmentation, belatedness, and repetition related to characters’ traumatic memories and healing. The research ques tions address how Morrison depicts the healing process, the narrative techniques employed to convey trauma effects, and the contribution of literary devices like flashbacks to trauma representation. By bridging trauma theory with literary analysis, the s tudy concluded Morrison’s novel Home indicates the traumatic experiences of Frank Money’s Korean War and racial violence, which not only trigger personal traumas but also reflect his torical traumas affecting African American experiences.

This paper explores how human thoughts shape individual realities across different contexts and concepts. Individuals develop unique thought patterns based on sensory perceptions, past experiences, and anticipated futures derived from collective lived experiences. The layering and accumulation of these diverse thought patterns presents a significant challenge for those seeking to achieve “a state of thoughtlessness”—a state that many spiritual traditions associate with divine connection. The research examines how thought patterns influence moral frameworks within society, demonstrating that negative thought cycles often produce corresponding negative outcomes in behavior and decision-making. Meditation emerges as a critical practice for analyzing and deconstructing these thought patterns, particularly negative ones that impede moral development. Through systematic meditation practices, individuals can progressively strip away layers of “wandering thought” to ultimately reach a thoughtless state where authentic moral decision-making becomes possible. Drawing from ancient philosophical traditions, this study investigates three specific methodologies—assimilation, reduction, and surrender—as pathways toward thoughtlessness and divine connection. Various meditation techniques will be examined, with particular emphasis on how these practices contribute to the cultivation of moral behavior, by working on the cognitive and affective processes of mind, and ultimately, the experience of transcendence. By examining the interconnectedness between thought dissolution, meditation practice, and moral development, this research offers insights into accessing higher states of consciousness and authentic living.
