The extensive research done on the interrelationship between different social factors such as social class، gender and age and different linguistic variables has shown that these factors have important effects on the way language is used. Among these factors a special importance can be placed on age due to the role it plays in revealing different patterns of language use، such as the age-grading pattern، the normal pattern of age differentiation and the important patterns of language change which can inform us about the emergence of a linguistic form or the death of some old form. This paper is intended to examine the interrelationship between age and the usage of Shirazi vocabulary or lexical items. Sixty respondents belonging to 6 age groups of Shirazi speakers answered a 60-item questionnaire. Each item included one Shirazi word with its definition and sometimes a short example to clarify its meaning. The respondents had to choose between two choices: either they used the item or they did not. The analysis of the results showed that age was an influencing factor on the speech of the speakers as the older people had a large collection of active Shirazi words (they actively used all the words) while the younger generation had two collections of more active and less active Shirazi words and as the age of the subjects increased their mean scores which represented their usage of Shirazi vocabulary items also increased. These words were also used less among the more educated Shirazi speakers.

A sociological Analysis of the Factors Affecting social Inequality Rasul Rabbani , Seyed Ali Hashemianfar and Nafiseh Chini Page 89 Abstract Full Text [PDF 412KB] Inequality is originally based on the differences that the society considers in treating individuals، and the reasons for making such differences lie in factors such as social class، race، ethnicity، sex and religion which are socially defined. The abstract and mental feelings of the members of the society and their perception of inequality are more important than the concrete and objective inequality and the important condition for its emergence is social comparison which brings relative deprivation and the feeling of inequality. This research aims to analyze the amount of social inequality and the feeling of inequality as well as the factors affecting them. The present paper is a survey (with regard to controlling the conditions of the research) and also is an explanatory study. The research population includes all citizens of Isfahan who are 15 years old or above at the time of the research and the sample includes 696 cases. The data was collected using a questionnaire. For data analysis، multi- variable regression and structural equations modeling were used. The results indicate that the coefficient of determination for social inequalities is R=.61.In addition، based on β value، luxurity، need satisfaction، age، religion، rationality، propaganda and generalized trust affected social inequality respectively. Also، the coefficient of determination for the feeling of inequality was R=.69 and based on β value، materialistic values، individualism، formal trust، religion، rationality، need satisfaction، social closure، feeling of belonging، luxurity affected the feeling of inequality respectively. In sum، the results indicated that the actual level of social inequality is average (2.7) and the feeling of inequality is high (3.2) among the participants.

This study applied a critical needs analysis approach to investigate investment (language learning commitment) needs and challenges of EFL upper secondary school learners from different socioeconomic backgrounds and school settings (privileged, middle-privileged, and less-privileged schools). To this end, Darvin and Norton`s (2015) model of investment was used as our analytic framework. The study took advantage of a mixed-methods approach. A five-point Likert scale questionnaire with 53 items and one open-ended question was administered to 759 learners from different school settings in Mashhad. Also, a semi-structured interview was conducted with 24 learners for triangulation. The findings of the questionnaire and interviews revealed that speaking accurately, fluently, and professionally was the main priority for learners` investing in EFL learning. However, privileged, middle-privileged, and less-privileged upper secondary school learners perceived their needs differently regarding investment in English language learning. Although no statistically significant difference was observed between privileged, middle-privileged, and less-privileged school learners in terms of identity, they perceived their needs significantly different in terms of ideology and capital. The findings can bring high school learners` investment needs into focus and help the educational setting improve.

Poverty is a significant societal problem and a major issue in human social affairs. In the Holy Qur'an, the term "Bāʼis" is used alongside the poor, which indicates that these two social classes are distinct. The present study uses a descriptive-analytical method with a social approach and library-based data collection to examine the concepts and instances of "Bāʼis," its causes, its impact on social relationships and community structure, and solutions to address this social stratum. The findings of this research show that the factors creating the "Bāʼis" social class include: Flawed macro-management, injustice, discrimination, usurpation of rights, hoarding. These factors lead to a decline in beliefs, social instability, moral deviation, social fragmentation, and ultimately the destruction of society. Solutions to this problem include: Short-term solutions; these are transient and aim to alleviate the suffering of this class. They include reducing unemployment, building affordable housing, providing loans, and offering social support. Long-term solutions; these are more fundamental and include reforming the country's economic, social, and cultural structures. This involves reforming tax collection and spending, a more equitable distribution of wealth and income to achieve social justice, proper governance, economic planning, and meritocracy, a focus on work, promoting public ethics, avoiding extravagance, implementing social support policies, and improving public skills. These measures help mitigate the negative effects of this social class and inequalities, leading to a better society.
