Analytical hierarchy process (AHP)

In land use and transportation planning, mixed land uses usually are those various and consistent land uses which have been within a single structure or close to each other. Mixed land uses in different societies are used for different purposes. In some of these societies, mixed land uses are appropriate strategies in mixing the housing types in a small scale in order to enhance the identity of old cities. In other societies they are used as a mean to revive the worn out areas and speed up economic developments. Even some societies use them to create the suburbs' centers. In this regard, the aim of this study is to evaluate the mixed land uses in Tehran's Bryanak neighborhood. For this purpose, the most important criteria and sub-criteria are compiled to determine the situation of the mixing land uses in this neighborhood, and by using Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) and questionnaire an appropriate and measurable framework is provided to measure and present strategies for the preservation and promotion of mixed land uses. The results indicate that the final score of this neighborhood was calculated as 3.08 that is very close to the "average" and indicates that the situation of mixed land uses in Bryanak neighborhood is average and some actions should be taken to improve conditions for the development of mixed land uses in this neighborhood.

School is an environment which brings out students’ hidden talents. Paying attention to an appropriate context and environment has a huge impact on achieving this goal. The purpose of this study was to determine and evaluate semantic factors provided by experts influence students’ sense of belonging at high school students in terms of Iranian experts. To this end, firstly data were collected through the library study along with preparation of hierarchal semantic factors, affecting the sense of belonging. After preparing the paired comparison questionnaires, the feedback from a number of experts was taken. Data were assessed by Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) and Expert Choice11 software. The results of the study showed that the factors related to meaning induced by environment are the most effective ones. In fact, semantic factors which are effective in the relationship of students with their feelings and perceptions have the greatest influence in increasing their belonging to school. Based on the results of the sub-categories, legibility, "evoking memories in the environment" and "Possibility of controlling territories for students," are respectively recognized as the most important factors in creating children’s sense of belonging to the school yard. Factors such as age and gender of the student are less effective than other factors in making sense of belonging.

Achieving e-commerce success is influenced by a variety of interrelated activities. Identifying, analyzing and prioritizing these activities enable decision-makers firstly to evaluate the current success state of Electronic Commerce (EC) businesses more accurately and then to develop an efficient improvement plan to allocate limited resources to achieve a higher level of success. In this research, a Fuzzy Cognitive Maps- analytical hierarchy process (FCM-AHP) approach is used to address this issue by (1) determining interrelationships between influential activities, (2) determining how much these activities influence each other and the overall success, and (3) prioritizing activities to develop a sound improvement plan. In this approach, the FCM technique is used to indicate all possible causal interrelationships between activities and consider all feedback loops between them. Then, the AHP technique is used to determine the contribution weights of activities to the overall success. The obtained management matrices that make it possible to categorize influential activities and the results of improvement scenarios help the decision-makers to develop the most efficient improvement plan and gain the maximum benefit from the allocation of limited resources. An empirical study is implemented to serve as an example to indicate how the approach works.
