The increasing expense of healthcare creates substantial difficulties for individuals, especially those from disadvantaged economic backgrounds who frequently encounter obstacles in obtaining prompt and adequate medical treatment. This study investigates how artificial intelligence could revolutionize healthcare by reducing these disparities and controlling costs. AI-powered medical services—such as remote consultations, diagnostic aids, and customized health advice—possess the ability to make healthcare information more widely accessible and improve early detection of preventable diseases. These technologies offer scalable, cost-effective solutions to bridge gaps in healthcare delivery, especially in underserved communities. However, the paper also examines the potential downsides of AI health systems, such as privacy concerns, biases in AI algorithms, and the risk of over-reliance on automated systems at the expense of human oversight. Despite these challenges, we argue that the integration of AI into healthcare is not only inevitable, but essential for the future of global health. Rather than dismissing these innovations, efforts should focus on developing ethical frameworks, robust governance, and equitable distribution mechanisms to maximize their benefits.

Unlocking Book Genre from Covers: A Multimodal Approach to Book Genre Prediction(مقاله علمی وزارت علوم)

In today’s visually driven market, book cover design plays a crucial role in conveying a work’s narrative and thematic essence. A book cover is a multimodal entity, consisting of various visual and textual elements. While conventional recommendation systems have often overlooked the semantic richness of cover imagery, prior work attempting to incorporate textual information relied on OCR to extract text from covers. However, these raw tokens capture only a fraction of the cover's meaning and often miss deeper thematic and narrative cues. Recognizing these limitations, we leverage the advanced knowledge accumulated in VLMs to derive a more comprehensive representation, using this knowledge to add it as an additional feature to the system. In this paper, we use VLM-generated descriptions and integrate these rich descriptions as a new textual feature. Our enhanced corpus comprises 57,000 book covers across 30 genres (1,900 per genre), each annotated with both raw imagery and VLM-generated narrative summaries. We fuse two state-of-the-art vision encoders (ViT and VisionMamba) with a text encoder that processes these VLM descriptions. Experimental results demonstrate a Top 1 accuracy of 63.31% and a Top 3 accuracy of 83.03%, marking a substantial improvement over the state-of-the-art variant and underscoring the value of VLM-derived context in multimodal genre classification.

This qualitative study examined the perspectives of Iranian clinical interns on the future of artificial intelligence in healthcare, with a focus on perceived opportunities, challenges, and the readiness of medical professionals for AI integration. A total of 64 clinical interns were recruited through snowball sampling from teaching hospitals across Tehran. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews and analyzed using thematic analysis to identify key insights regarding the participants' views on AI technologies in clinical practice. The findings revealed a general optimism about the potential of AI to enhance diagnostic accuracy, streamline workflows, and improve patient outcomes. However, participants expressed concerns about ethical dilemmas, such as the impact of AI on clinical decision-making autonomy and patient privacy. Many interns highlighted the need for AI to complement rather than replace human judgment in medicine. Additionally, most participants identified significant gaps in their training regarding AI, emphasizing the necessity for curriculum reforms to better prepare future clinicians for working alongside advanced technologies.

Artificial intelligence is transforming all aspects of human life and healthcare industry is one of the areas of change due to introduction of AI. This systematic review examines the perspectives of doctors on the use of AI in clinical settings, synthesizing findings from peer-reviewed articles to provide a comprehensive understanding of their attitudes, experiences, and concerns. Drawing on studies conducted across diverse healthcare environments, the review identifies prevailing themes, including the perceived benefits of AI in improving diagnostic accuracy, streamlining workflows, and personalizing patient care. However, it also highlights persistent challenges, such as ethical dilemmas surrounding accountability and autonomy, concerns about data privacy, and the potential for algorithmic biases. The findings reveal that while many physicians are optimistic about the transformative potential of AI, significant gaps remain in education and infrastructure that hinder effective adoption. Doctors frequently underscore the need for explainable AI systems, robust regulatory frameworks, and targeted training programs to address these challenges. This review contributes to the growing body of literature on AI in healthcare by offering insights into how medical professionals perceive and engage with this rapidly evolving technology.

Risk management at hazardous jobs: A new media literacy?

In 2022, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported 5,486 fatal work injuries, reflecting a 5.7% increase from 2021. This alarming trend highlights the persistent dangers associated with hazardous occupations, with the fatal work injury rate rising to 3.7 fatalities per 100,000 full-time equivalent (FTE) workers. This article contends that traditional risk management approaches are inadequate to counter this trend and advocates for the integration of media literacy as an essential component of workplace safety. Media literacy equips workers to critically analyze and resist the influence of media narratives, particularly those on visual platforms such as Instagram and TikTok, that glamorize high-risk behaviors. Such narratives can promote unsafe workplace practices by encouraging employees to engage in dangerous activities to showcase exceptional skills. The article argues that corporations in construction sector and other hazardous industries bear the responsibility of organizing media literacy workshops for their employees. These programs can further critical awareness and encourage safer decision-making to help reduce the occurrence of workplace fatalities.
