Effective Factors on Naming Practices in Iran: Sociopolitics or Dialect(مقاله علمی وزارت علوم)

Naming as an inseparable sign of a country’s language has attracted the attention of many linguists to formulate and test hypotheses regarding the culture and language of the people of a certain area. Iran appears like a proper destination for conducting a research focusing on naming based on several factors such as geography or chronology. The present article aims to take a specific look at the impact of political era (sociopolitical factors) in addition to dialect over naming practices. Chronological data is gathered from 5 politically significant consecutive periods. Separately, 5 districts are chosen speaking 4 different native dialects to examine the second hypothesis regarding the influence of dialect on naming. 50 most popular names were collected on the two aforementioned different bases and analysis was conducted by SPSS software. The results revealed that time with concentration on political spans did not form an influential factor except for minor fluctuations. The other hypothesis regarding the factor of dialect is rejected for male names while females do confirm a limited consistency of dialect and name choice in most of the areas.

The Impact of Linguistic and Socio-Cultural Indicators on Naming Commercial Centers in Ardabil and Tehran(مقاله علمی وزارت علوم)

Naming, like any other act, is performed in a certain social and cultural context and is affected by these components. Therefore, naming can be regarded as a meaningful act, a cultural act, and thus a social factor. The present study is content-based analysis, and on the based on Saussure's theory (1986), its purpose is to investigate the effect of linguistic, cultural, and social factors in naming commercial centers of Ardabil and Tehran. For this purpose, from 8000 shopping centers in District 10 of Tehran and Ardebil, 368 commercial centers were randomly selected as probabilistic errors based on Morgan's table. The instrument of measurement in this research is a researcher-made questionnaire which consists of three sections: linguistic, cultural and social factors. To test the Null- hypotheses, independent t-test and the Friedman test were used. All statistical analysis were analyzed using SPSS20 and at a significant level less than 0.05. The results showed that there is a significant difference between the role of linguistic, cultural and social indicators in naming commercial centers in Ardebil and Tehran cities (p = 0.001). Finally, it has been shown that the social index has the greatest impact, and the language index has the least impact on the naming of business centers.

الگوهای فرهنگی نام گذاری افراد در بین اقوام مغول بر اساس متون ادبی و تاریخی(مقاله علمی وزارت علوم)

اقوام مغول با پیروی از الگوی فرهنگی خود نام های متنوعی را برای افراد برمی گزیدند. با هجوم و فرمانروایی بلندمدت مغولان، در ایران، نام های مغولی در متون فارسی آن دوره و حتی پس از آن منعکس شده است. در مواردی ادیبان و تاریخ نگاران ایرانی، معانی نام ها و دلیل نام گذاری های متنوع را ضبط کرده و به داستان ها و روایت های مربوط به آن ها پرداخته اند. از آنجا که پژوهش دقیق و جامعی درباره الگوی نام گذاری مغول و بازتاب آن در متون ادبی و تاریخی، مشاهده نشده است پژوهش در این مورد، اهمیت و ضرورت دارد. در این پژوهش که با روش توصیفی تحلیلی اجرا و داده های آن، بر مبنای متون ادبی و با استناد به متون تاریخی، به شیوه کتابخانه ای، گردآوری شده ، نام ها و الگوهای نام گذاری افراد در متون، شناسایی و بررسی شده است. در این متون، الگوهای نام گذاری متفاوتی با توجه به طبیعت، وضعیت جسمانی، رویدادها و ... وجود دارد و نام گذاری با رسومی نیز همراه بوده و نام ها در مواردی بنا به دلایلی تغییر کرده اند.

Tawfīqī1 or Ijtihādī of Naming Surahs of the Qur'an and Its Jurisprudential Effects(مقاله علمی وزارت علوم)

The Qur'an, like other holy books, has smaller sections that are called "Surahs" based on the Qur'anic verses. The significant and privileged position of the Qur'an is accepted by all Islamic religions, and the effort to preserve this position, along with the divinity of its words, has caused most of the debates that refer to the structure of the Qur'an to be considered Tawfīqī (non-arbitrary) matters. The arrangement of the verses and the scope of the Surahs is one of the things that there is a consensus on their being non-arbitrary; However, there are two general views regarding the naming of the Surahs of the Qur'an. Most of the Qur'anic scholars believe that based on narrative and rational reasons, the naming of Surahs is one of the non-arbitrary matters; while some experts have considered it as a matter of ijtihād2. The acceptance of each point of view will have different jurisprudential effects. This research is of a qualitative type and has investigated the mentioned issue through a descriptive-analytical method based on content analysis. This study by inferring the arguments of both views and relying on the historical analysis of the stages of naming the Surahs of the Qur'an, has preferred the view of Ijtihādī-oriented naming. Of the most important jurisprudential effects of accepting ijtihād in naming Surahs of the Qur'an is the permissibility of accepting new names for Surahs, the point that the Qur'anic names do not imply the valuing of people or the subject, the impossibility of inferring jurisprudential rulings by referring to the names of the Surahs or proving the virtue of names, etc.
