As a negative consequence of COVID 19, almost all students felt obliged to leave the universities and use electronic devices to learn. Some universities encouraged faculty members to use Electronic teaching as an alternative to traditional classrooms. Despite a large number of studies on different forms of electronic learning, the effectiveness of synchronous and asynchronous E-learning in teaching grammar to EFL learners has been neither investigated nor compared appropriately. Two intact  classes of undergraduate students of English as a Foreign Language (EFL) from Farhangiyan university were selected. and each received the treatment through either synchronous or asynchronous E-learning activities. The same syllabus consisting of dependent Clauses, Appostive, infinitives, and gerunds were taught to the two groups. EFL learners’ knowledge of grammar was  measured by recognition and production tests.  The two groups’ scores were submitted to repeated measures ANOVA tests. The findings showed that both modes of E-learning greatly influenced the language learners’ knowledge of grammar as measured by recognition and production tests. Results also showed that the interaction between electronic modes and grammar recognition and production tests was statistically significant. Therefore, it could be concluded that E-learning learning is useful, synchronous learning is more effective for improving the language learners’ production, and asynchronous learning is effective for improving the skills and subskills which require reflection and comprehension.

There is dearth of research on disclosing the ethos of Appreciative Inquiry (AI)-based pedagogy application in language education settings (Johnson, 2014), especially amid the Covid-19 pandemic era. To disclose the ethos in AI-based pedagogy as an appropriate pandemic pedagogy, the present study attempts to uncover the Iranian EFL learners' narratives on their lived experiences of a pedagogical shift in an English language school in northern Iran when dealing with an online class during the pandemic. Embedded in 4-D ethos of AI-based pedagogy, namely Discovery, Dream, Design, and Destiny, this study utilizes data from observational field notes and interviews in shaping narratives. It was shown that the online language lesson agenda is a dynamic resource that emerges from content development and can be planned to confirm the learner's knowledge. More creative ways of learners' assessment are also yearned for to neutralize cheating possibilities. In addition, new modes of meaning in language education are envisaged to be designed. Learners position themselves as enriched multimodal text repertoires in a dynamic not static language community of practice. The c urrent study has some implications for online language practice, especially in periods of crisis such as a pandemic.

E-Learning is an important tool in higher education in the digital age and has led to the creation of a learning environment on based learner, flexibility in learning methods and the introduction of changes in teaching and learning process in higher education system. This changes led to challenges such as increasing or decreasing academic performance. Thus the purpose this research was the analysis of relationship between quality of e-learning system and student’s academic performance. The type of research was descriptive-correlative and the statistical population included students at University of Kashan (N=6473), through Cochran's formula and stratified random sampling 236 ones were selected as a sample. In order to collect data’s, used from the e-learning system quality questionnaire consisting of 47 answers closed items. To determine academic performance, the average of four semesters leading to the corona pandemic period was used. The reliability of the questionnaire was estimated 0.91 through Cronbach's alpha coefficient. Data’s analysis was performed at two levels of descriptive and inferential statistic. Findings showed that the mean of all components of e-learning system except evaluation quality (2.90±0.95) is higher than the cut-off point 3. The mean of the students’ academic performance (16.45±1.58) is higher than the average 10. Pearson correlation coefficient showed there is positive & significant relation between quality of e-learning system and students’ academic performance. In addition, regression coefficients showed that among the components, only the component of class holding quality (Beta=0.23 & P= 0.015) can predict students' academic performance.

A Two-Stage Method for Diagnosing COVID-19, Leveraging CNN, and Transfer Learning on CT Scan Images(مقاله علمی وزارت علوم)

تعداد بازدید : ۱۹ تعداد دانلود : ۱۶
Lung infection represents one of the most perilous indicators of Covid-19. The most efficient diagnostic approach entails the analysis of CT scan images. Utilizing deep learning algorithms and machine vision, computer scientists have devised a method for automated detection of this disease. This study proposes a two-stage approach to identifying lung infection. In the initial stage, image features are extracted through a transfer learning framework employing ResNet50, with the last two layers being fixed. Subsequently, a CNN neural network is constructed for image detection and categorization in the second stage. By employing superior image feature selection and minimizing non-informative features, this proposed method achieves impressive accuracy metrics: 98.99% accuracy, 98.91% sensitivity, and 99.10% specificity. Furthermore, a comparative analysis is conducted between this method and six other architectures (Inception, InceptionResNetV2, ResNet101, ResNet152, VGG16, VGG19), with and without transfer learning. The findings demonstrate that the proposed method attains 98% accuracy on test data, without succumbing to overfitting.
