Background: Today, tourism is recognized as one of the largest and fastest growing industries which has been highly regarded by governments for its diverse benefits, including job creation, increasing local and national revenues, expanding entrepreneurial opportunities, making optimal economic investment, and improving the security by reducing political tensions. Nevertheless, tourism can have various economic, social, and cultural consequences on the environment and local communities. Therefore, there are serious ethical considerations in terms of environmental degradation and negative social and cultural impacts of tourism that need to be taken into account in tourism development programs. The aim of this research is to study the role of environmental ethics in sustainable tourism development and provide ethical environmental solutions in the development of tourism. Conclusion: Considering the fact that, in most cases, few may benefit from tourism development, while its adverse effects influence the society and the environment, ethical solutions such as understanding the real values of nature, assessing the environmental and social impacts of tourism development plans, estimating the carrying capacity of the destination, focusing on sustainable forms and alternative tourism, and establishment of effective laws and regulations are required for a more sustainable and ethical tourism development.

The aim of this study is to develop a comprehensive dataset for interdisciplinary research on the Qur’an and the environment. Conducted with a descriptive–analytical approach, the study examined all verses of the Qur’an based on authoritative translations and commentaries. In this process, 766 verses on human–environment relations were identified and classified into 15 categories, such as humans as part of nature, human vicegerency on earth, the subjugation of nature, legitimate use of natural blessings in this world and the hereafter, and the prohibition of corruption and destruction of the environment. In addition, 833 environmental instances were extracted and grouped into eight main categories: climate and atmosphere (27%), marine environment (1%), animal environment (10%), animal products (6%), plant environment (19%), plant products (8%), the solar system (22%), and human industries derived from nature (7%). Conceptual analysis indicated that these relations can be interpreted at three key levels, ethical, jurisprudential, and eschatological, showing that the Qur’an presents nature as a divine blessing and a trust given to humankind, emphasizing both proper utilization and the moral and eschatological consequences of environmental corruption. This dataset provides a novel foundation for future research in environmental ethics and Islamic jurisprudence, as well as for rethinking responses to contemporary environmental crises.

From Domination to Care: A Moral-Legal Framework for Sustainable Environmental Development(مقاله علمی وزارت علوم)

Prevailing theories and development policies have historically framed nature primarily as a resource or instrument for fulfilling human needs. This orientation—even within the discourse of sustainable development—often sustains an anthropocentric and extractive relationship with the natural world. Drawing on the framework of care ethics , this article reconsiders the human–nature relationship by conceptualizing the Earth as an “other.” In this reframing, nature is understood not as a mere object or commodity, but as a moral entity—vulnerable, intrinsically valuable, and deserving of attentive care. Such an ethical shift has significant implications for legal and customary approaches to environmental responsibility. It redefines the foundation of liability, moving from reaction to actual harm toward proactive care and the prevention of conditions likely to produce future harm. Sustainable development, in this view, necessitates an ethical reorientation that privileges care, mutual interdependence, and moral attentiveness over purely utilitarian or instrumental considerations. Employing a descriptive–analytical methodology and drawing on extensive library‑based research, this study explores the theoretical underpinnings of this care‑centered perspective, as well as its broader environmental, legal, and societal implications.
