Iranian EFL Academics’ and PhD Candidates’ Perceptions toward the Infusion of Critical Thinking into EFL Curriculum(مقاله علمی وزارت علوم)

Critical thinking (CT) abilities have failed to receive the necessary consideration in applied linguistics. Thus, this study was intended to explore English as a Foreign Language (EFL) academics and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) candidates’ perceptions of embedding CT into the EFL curricula in Iran. Moreover, it aimed to identify the primary obstacles teachers may have while employing CT skills, and suggest some necessary strategies to strengthen students' CT abilities. To do so, a total of 50 male and female EFL academics as well as 50 male and female PhD candidates specializing in Applied Linguistics, Linguistics and Literature, as well as Translation at different universities in Iran participated in this study. The present investigation employed a mixed-methods design. To this end, an adapted version of Stapleton's (2011) CT questionnaire was used. Moreover, semi-structured interviews were undertaken with a cohort of 5 EFL academics and 5 PhD candidates. The outcomes underscore the need for educational policymakers and curriculum developers to recognize the significance of CT in language learning and to infuse more systematic and explicit approaches to teaching CT in Iranian EFL context. The pedagogical implications of the study were accordingly discussed.

تصمیم نموذج لریاده الأعمال الدولیه فی الشرکات العائلیه الصغیره والمتوسطه فی إیران (صناعه الغذاء نموذجا)(مقاله علمی وزارت علوم)

إنّ ریاده الأعمال الدولیه تُعدّ أحد أهم حقول الدراسات فی عالم الاقتصاد، ولها تأثیر کبیر علی الشرکات العائلیه الصغیره والمتوسطه. تهدف الدراسه الحالیه إلی تقدیم نموذج لریاده الأعمال الدولیه فی الشرکات العائلیه الصغیره والمتوسطه فی إیران باستخدام إستراتیجیه نظریه البیانات. هذه الدراسه من حیث الهدف هی دراسه تنمویه ومن حیث المنهج المعتمد تعدّ دراسهً وصفیه تحلیلیه باتجاه اکتشافی. مجتمع البحث هو المدیرین والموظفین العاملین فی الأعمال العائلیه النشطه فی صناعه الغذاء، وقد تم اختیارهم من خلال طریقه أخذ العینات الهادفه. کما أن البیانات وعبر أداه المقابله تمّ تحلیلها خلال ثلاث مراحل من الترمیز المفتوح والمحوری والانتقائی. ولتحلیل البیانات والمعلومات استفدنا من إستراتیجیه نظریه البیانات وبرنامج أطلس تی المعتمده فی إجراء التحلیل الإحصائی للبیانات المهمه. إن موثوقیه أداه البحث تمّ التأکد منها بالاستفاده من طریقه الموافقه بین کودین من الکودات. إن بیانات البحث فی المقولات الست هی: إستراتیجیات السوق، صناعه الشبکات، الثقافه الإیرانیه السائده فی الشرکات العائلیه، القابلیه الریادیه، العوامل الأساسیه (العوامل الداخلیه، العوامل الخارجیه، منطقه نشاط الأعمال، الظروف السیاسیه، الحمایه الحکومیه)، الموارد (الموارد المالیه، التکنولوجیه والإنسانیه)، والتنمیه المستدامه، الحصول علی العملات المستدامه، والتدریب العالمی. کما قُدّمت عددٌ من التوصیات والمقترحات فی هذا الخصوص.

The Effect of Summary Training on Intermediate EFL Learners’ Reading Comprehension in Individual and Collaborative Conditions(مقاله علمی وزارت علوم)

Inspired by Vygotsky’s Sociocultural Theory (SCT), the current study intended to investigate the effect of summary training (i.e., oral and written) on intermediate EFL learners’ reading comprehension in different conditions (i.e., individual and collaborative). Data collection tools and procedures encompassed PET test, First Certificate in English (FCE) reading pre-test, and post-test. First, to ensure that the instruments, scoring, as well as summary training procedures were reliable, the researchers conducted a pilot test. During the main study, 120 Iranian EFL intermediate male and female learners aged from 16-18 were considered as the main participants. Learners were divided into 6 groups (i.e., three individual and three collaborative conditions). Furthermore, each condition included three groups with oral summary, written summary groups, and no summary group. A post-test followed the treatment that lasted for 6 sessions. A series of ANOVA with follow up pair-wise comparisons and a series of independent-samples t-tests indicated that: (1) summary training, especially the oral one, was more effective in enhancing the EFL learners’ reading comprehension, and (2) members of the collaborative groups outperformed the members of the individual groups regarding their reading comprehension development. The theoretical and practical implications are discussed concerning enhancing the EFL learners’ reading comprehension.

Mediating effect of Knowledge management mediating effect on relationship between organizational culture and entrepreneurial orientation (Case study: employees of Qazvin’s municipalities of districts one and two)(مقاله علمی وزارت علوم)

The aim of the present research was to study the impact of organizational culture on entrepreneurial orientation given the mediating role of knowledge management. The statistical population consisted of the employees of district 1 and 2 municipalities of Qazvin who were about 200 in number, of whom 130 people were selected based on stratified random sampling method and Cochran formula. Data analysis was done using structural equation modeling with the help of LISREL 8.8 software and Smart PLS 2 in two parts: measurement model and structural part. In the former, technical characteristics of questionnaire were evaluated and the necessary amendments were made; and in the second part, the coefficients of structural model were used to test the hypothesis of the research. The results indicate a significant and positive impact on the entrepreneurial orientation of organizational culture and knowledge management on the one hand and on the other hand a significant impact on the relationship between the two of the mediator of knowledge management.
