Spiritual journey

The highlighted purpose of the present study lies on the traces of Hermeticism in John Donne’s celebrated poem, An Anatomy of the World. Since Donne was one of the seventeenth-century poets and a highly significant poet in the metaphysical school of poetry, his poems explore the realms of philosophy, theology, popular science, and also the idea of Platonic love in his love poetry. Hermeticism is an ancient idea which focuses on spiritual, philosophical, and magical tradition. This school of thought concentrates on the path of spiritual growth. It believes that human beings return to a state of unity by the spiritual journey. With reference to this idea, this study explores the elements of Hermeticism in the lines of An Anatomy of the World in order to grasp the idea of spiritual journey and unification in that Donne in this poem centers on a profound quest and spiritual journey of the soul that goes to heaven.

Dhull or humiliation is originally a Quranic word and all the Quranic subjects were of interest and importance to the Mystics. It is well-known that commendable characteristics and virtuous character in mysticism are both from the most important matters related to the ascending journey to the Lord. Humiliation is one of the mystical ethics which affects the voyage and motion to God. Humiliation of the soul for the obedience of God Almighty commands and staying away from sins are better than prayer and fasting, by which the traveler on the spiritual path gets closer to his Lord and makes him attain the Real Honor which is only something connected with the Honor of Allah, His messenger and believers. It must be mentioned that there are Spiritual Veils on the traveler’s way to God which have also its humiliation and evey veil is a trial from God Almighty who has tested His servants with it. The analytical-descriptive method of this research describes the nature of humiliation, not in its familiar meaning and its traces in the holy traveler’s journey to God. In this research we are going to see many important points from which the overflowing knowledge of God into the one who humiliated his soul for Allah’s sake is becoming one of the most significant humiliation effects in the wayfarer’s mystical life and how the worldlys’ norm in defining the humiliation nature differs completely from the Divine one which based on the complete submission and surrendering to Him.

SUBJECT AND OBJECTIVES : Manifestation is a Quranic word, and for this reason it had been of interest and importance to the Mystics. Manifestation is one of the most important mystical foundations which explains how multiplicity is realized in mysticism. There are many examples of manifestation in the holy Quran, such as: When the Lord manifested His Glory to the mountain, He turned it into dust and Moses fell down upon his face senseless. This study aims to investigate Manifestation verse mystically and explore the connection between the Divine Manifestation and the wayfaring voyage. METHOD AND FINDING : The analytical-descriptive method of this research with a mystical interpretation of this Quranic verse about the Lord Manifestation to Moses, describes the truth of manifestation, its dimensions and types which are existential and intuitive (behavioral) manifestation. In this research we are going to see many important points such as the inclusion of the verse of manifestation of several types of manifestation from which the behavioral manifestation which is realized through the Moses’ spiritual journey which ended up at the point between the conversing station and  being a vassal (marboub). Moving from khalwa to jalwa abbreviates the Moses spiritual journey towards the Exalted in regards with the Divine Manifestation. CONCLUSION : Since mysticism deals with manifestation in terms of its relationship with the worlds of existence and epistemological aspects of human being, so by mystical analysis of the manifestation verse in the Holy Quran, a correct understanding of manifestation and its connection with man’s spiritual journey, can be reached.

This study explores the distinguished Persian Sufi mystic Shaykh Maḥmūd Shabestarī’s Golshan-e Rāz, or The Rose Garden of Mystery . Adopting a hermeneutic approach, it scrutinizes the intricate spiritual journey towards divine realization delineated in Shabestarī’s poetry, utilizing qualitative content analysis of original texts and interpretations by scholars such as Lāhījī and Ibn Turka Iṣfahānī. The main question the paper addresses is this: “How can the spiritual journeyer overcome obstacles—particularly ‘otherness’—and achieve unity with the divine Essence within the framework of Islamic mysticism, as interpreted through Shabestarī’s teachings in Golshan-e Rāz ?” To answer this inquiry, the paper addresses pivotal questions concerning Shabestarī’s depiction of the spiritual journeyer’s path, its stages and challenges, and the critical role of the human form in divine manifestation. The study underscores the necessity of overcoming duality and distinction, alluding to the transformative nature of the journey that necessitates self-purification and the cessation of otherness. Findings from this study provide an enriched understanding of Shabestarī’s thought, contributing to the discourse on Islamic metaphysics. It presents valuable insights into the spiritual journeyer’s path, offering a comprehensive interpretation of the challenges, practices, and transformative experiences leading to divine realization and unity.

SUBJECT & OBJECTIVES : The objective of the article is to provide evidence on the impact of mysticism on the Islamic Republic of Iran through the figure, thought, and legacy of Imam Khomeini. To achieve this, the article discusses the relationship between the political thought of Imam Khomeini and his mystical and philosophical views on society and life. METHOD & FINDING : The descriptive-analytical method is used to state the role and impact of mysticism on the Islamic Revolution by analyzing and comparing Imam Khomeini’s texts and speeches on the topic. Imam Khomeini was a devoted scholar who brought Islamic mysticism to the public realm of discussion, both within the religious seminary system and in the public arena of institutional discussions around the formation of the Islamic Republic. CONCLUSION : Imam Khomeini revolutionized the clerical attitude towards politics and proved that religion was still relevant as an ideology capable of building a Modern society. His success in mobilizing his followers went beyond as he achieved this in a historical moment where the discourse of Westernization posed a threat to Iranians. Also, conveyed the revolutionary movement in a unique language featuring connotations of martyrdom, justice, freedom, and political and sociocultural independence. He emphasized the need to revitalize religion through the guidance of jurists and clerics while referencing the mystical traditions of Islam, which highlight its universality and transcendental importance.
