چکیده
براون در قالب داستان های معنوی رمزآلود به مفاهیم گوناگونی اشاره دارد که جملگی بر بنیاد رابطه علم و دین تحلیل پذیر است. بدین سان، پرسش این است که آیا دیدگاه او درباره «علم و دین» می تواند درک جدیدی از حقیقت معنوی ارائه دهد؟ مقاله حاضر، با روش تحلیلی انتقادی، به بررسی خوانش براون تحت ایده «نمادشناسی» می پردازد؛ بدین معنا که دوگانه علم و دین برای فهم حقیقت در دو نسبت قوام می یابند: «نزاع علم و دین» و «پیوستگی حقیقت و معنویت». لکن، یافته های پژوهش نشان می دهد که ایده براون از اعتبار کافی برخوردار نیست. چون ارزیابی داده های اولیه که شالوده معرفتی داستان ها را شکل می دهند به لحاظ سندیت و پشتوانه مخدوش است. از یک سو، در تبیین رابطه بر نوعی اندیشه تعارض و تمایز تأکید می کند؛ حال آنکه در «رویکرد تعاملی» نه علم به عنوان تنها ابزار کشف حقیقت معرفی می شود نه دین مانعی در برابر پیشرفت علمی به شمار می رود، بلکه هر دو در چارچوبی مبتنی بر گفت وگو و هماهنگی به درک عمیق تر حقیقت یاری می رسانند. از سوی دیگر، علم را به عنوان ابزار اصلی رمزگشایی حقیقت مطرح می سازد؛ حال آنکه این رویکرد یک جانبه نگرانه نقش دین را در کشف حقیقت کم رنگ می کند و اهمیت باورهای دینی را در فهم حقیقت معنوی نادیده می گیرد. بدین سان، نگرش او به لحاظ روش و محتوا و به دلیل عدم ارائه مدل جامع برای تعامل محل تردید است.A Critical Review of the Relationship between "Science and Religion" in the Perception of Spiritual Truth from the Perspective of Dan Brown
Brown, through his spiritual-mystery novels, explores various concepts, all of which can be analyzed based on the relationship between science and religion. Thus, the question arises: Can his perspective on "science and religion" offer a new understanding of spiritual truth? This article, employing an analytical-critical method, examines Brown’s interpretation through the lens of "semiotics," arguing that the duality of science and religion is established in two interrelated dimensions: the "conflict between science and religion" and the "continuity of truth and spirituality." However, the research findings indicate that Brown’s idea lacks sufficient credibility, as the evaluation of the primary data that form the epistemic foundation of his narratives is flawed in terms of authenticity and reliability. On the one hand, his explanation of the relationship emphasizes a notion of conflict and distinction. Yet, in an "interactive approach," neither is science introduced as the sole tool for discovering truth, nor is religion regarded as an obstacle to scientific progress. Instead, both contribute to a deeper understanding of truth within a framework of dialogue and harmony. On the other hand, Brown presents science as the primary tool for deciphering truth, whereas this unilateral perspective diminishes the role of religion in discovering truth and overlooks the significance of religious beliefs in understanding spiritual truth. Consequently, his perspective is questionable in terms of methodology, content, and the lack of a comprehensive model for interaction.
