This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of mindfulness-based stress reduction intervention on cognitive avoidance of students with test anxiety. The research method was quasi-experimental with a pretest-post-test design ad a control group. The statistical population included all Meshkinshahr students who were referred to school counseling centers. Among them, 30 people with test anxiety were selected by purposive sampling. Data collection tools were test anxiety questionnaires (Abolghasemi et al., 1996) and cognitive avoidance (Sexton and Dogas, 2008). The experimental group received a mindfulness-based stress reduction program (John Kabat-Zayn) for 8 weeks (one week of a 2-hour session). The collected data were analyzed using multivariate analysis of covariance. The results showed that mindfulness-based stress reduction intervention significantly reduced cognitive avoidance in students with test anxiety (P <0.001). According to the present study, the use of mindfulness-based stress reduction intervention in the pre-exam period can be effective in reducing the cognitive avoidance of students with test anxiety.

Background: The present study aimed to examine the effectiveness of mindfulness-based stress reduction training on negative emotions with gastrointestinal disorders. Method: A quasi-experimental study was designed with pretest-posttest using a control group. The study sample consisted of 30 male patients (referred to internal experts and admitted to Abbasi Hospital of Miandoab in 2016) with gastrointestinal disorders (Irritable Bowel Syndrome, peptic ulcer, and duodenal ulcer) based on diagnostic criteria (ROME-III) who were selected by purposive sampling method. The patients were randomly divided into two experimental and control groups. After performing the pretest using Depression, Anxiety, and Stress Scales (DASS), the experimental group received mindfulness-based stress reduction intervention during the eight sessions of one and a half hour, while the control group received no psychological intervention; and after the end of the sessions, the posttest was performed for both groups using the same tools. The collected data were analyzed through covariance analysis (ANCOV) by using SPSS-18 software. Results: The mean scores of negative emotions rates of experimental group significantly decreased after receiving the mindfulness-based stress reduction intervention (P

The aim of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of mindfulness-based stress reduction (MBSR) on adherence to appropriate treatment and food intake in patients with type 2 diabetes. The research design was quasi-experimental with pre-test, post-test with control group and 3-month follow-up period. The statistical population of this study consists of all people with type 2 diabetes admitted to the Diabetes and Metabolic Diseases Clinic in Tehran, whose number was equal to 73 people. To conduct an experimental study with two groups (experimental and control) by selecting 15 subjects for each group can achieve a test power of 0.88. The sample sizes were divided into two experimental groups (n = 15) and a control group (n = 15) by available sampling. Inclusion and exclusion criteria are type 2 diabetes with a doctor's approval, at least one year of illness, and absence of more than 2 sessions in treatment sessions. The general compliance questionnaire (GAS) and the feed frequency questionnaire (FFQ) were administered to both groups. The control group waited and the mindfulness intervention for the experimental node was performed in 8 sessions of 90 minutes. Research data were analyzed using descriptive statistics using repeated measures analysis of variance. The results showed that mindfulness training based on stress reduction, adherence to treatment and proper nutrition of patients with type 2 diabetes has significantly increased (P0.05) and this increase has remained constant over time.
